(CHICAGO)(January 19, 2008) Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Saturday, January 19th at 7:00 P.M. to explain the context and significance of the Chicago Sun-Times’ story in Sunday’s editions identifying Senator Barack Obama as the “political candidate” in the forthcoming Tony Rezko criminal trial.
“A week ago I held a news conference and disclosed that Barack Obama was linked to Tony Rezko’s criminal trial. No one paid attention. It took the somnolent Chicago media a week to pick upon my scent. Sunday’s Chicago Sun-Times confirms my claim that Obama was linked to the forthcoming Rezko trial.
“For the past fourteen (14) months I have been both breaking news and making news concerning Barack Obama's links to the corrupt criminal syndicate that controls Chicago and Illinois politics. Some columnists call it a ‘Combine.’ Is it is in effect a crime syndicate (though not directly part of the ‘Outfit’ or 'mob').
“Tonight I will put the Sun-Times Sunday story in context, both with my prior disclosures at my news conference last week, and the overall context of what is unfolding at 219 S. Dearborn. I will disclose that the ‘squeeze is on’ both Rezko and Obama, directly and indirectly, to deal with federal prosecutors.
“In November, 2006 I sent a communication to the foreperson of the U. S. Grand Jury and outlined why further investigation was necessary.
“A few days ago the Chicago Tribune called me a ‘crusader’ who takes action against ‘perceived wrongdoers.’ Thank you Chicago Tribune. For fourteen months I have been exposing the Obama/Rezko links and leading the way with links and analysis to the criminal trial. Tonight I will follow up on my commentary and analysis,” Martin states.
“It is a biblical proposition that there are ‘none so blind as those who will not see; none so deaf as those who will not hear.’ The Chicago media have tried to ignore and avoid what I have been disclosing, but the developments and actions of federal prosecutors are gradually revealing the dimensions of the case I have been making since 2006.
“Obama’s local boosters in the media can try to ignore me in the short run; they can’t ignore the coming explosion in the long run. The Rezko case is a time bomb that is coming closer to exploding.”
