(CHICAGO)(January 20, 2008) Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Sunday, January 20th at 12:00 noon to comment on Senator Barack Obama’s latest disclosures in the Sunday Chicago Tribune that Obama is disgorging over $40,000 in tainted campaign cash. Martin will also disclose new pieces of the Obama-Rezko puzzle. Obama acted to disgorge campaign within hours after Martin announced a Chicago news conference disclosing new links between Obama, indicted influence peddler Tony Rezko and Rezko’s forthcoming federal criminal trial where Obama is still only an anonymous, but significant, factor.
“He who lives by the corruption of the Chicago Democratic Machine and the corrupt Illinois ‘Combine’ (hint: Barack Obama) dies by the Chicago Democratic Machine and corrupt Illinois ‘Combine,’ Martin will state. “One cut at a time.
“Rezko was indicted months ago; what took Obama so long to ‘check his records?’ Obama’s own admission is that disclosures in the Chicago Sun-Times forced him to conduct these new reviews on Saturday, in January, 2008? Of the 2004 election? In the midst of a presidential election?
“Obama has been in the U.S. Senate for three years. And he is still giving back 2004 campaign cash? Whoa.
“Maybe Hilary Clinton was right when she said this man had not been properly ‘vetted.’ How many more skeletons is Obama going to disclose and disgorge in response to newspaper headlines and my news conferences, and what happens when the Rezko trial begins and Obama is sucked into the vortex?” Martin will demand at his Sunday news conference.
“Obama has been playing a game of ‘fast and loose’ with the nation’s media for years, and I have been disclosing his shenanigans piece by piece. Last week I disclosed Obama’s links to the Rezko trial; this week the Sun-Times followed up on my disclosures. Then I scheduled another news conference for the 19th. And Obama coughed up another $40,000 in tainted cash. Sounds suspicious, doesn’t it?
“After almost forty years in Chicago’s courts I can state unequivocally what it means: Obama is ‘feelin’ the heat’ of the Rezko criminal trial.
“Obama’s rise to prominence has been fueled by and riddled with Chicago corruption for years. Yet local media keep trying to suppress this evidence of impropriety because in a spasm of misguided boosterism and Babbitry they want to promote a ‘Chicago’ candidate for president. On the Contrary, Chicago’s media are disgracing the people of this City and state by putting forward a paper maché candidate for president. Obama is a slick talker, but the only walking he has done is with his palms open to Chicago’s legendary influence peddling elite,” Martin will state.
“America’s Third City is looking incredibly Third World in its media coverage of a local candidate. A city with a legendary inferiority complex is looking decidedly inferior in the way it presents the truth about a local politico to the world.
“Sunday I will disclose yet another piece of the Obama-Rezko puzzle. And, one is constrained to ask, who has a better batting average of accuracy and telling the truth abut Obama? Chicago’s mainstream media, or ContrarianCommentary.com and my own campaign? The answer is embarrassingly obvious.
“And in that spirit, Sunday we’ll keep embarrassing our colleagues and competitors in the so-called mainstream. ‘Mainstream’ should not be a synonym for stupid. But in covering up and in failing to discover and disclose the truth abut Obama in a timely manner, Chicago’s mainstream media have been just plain stupid.”
