(CHICAGO)(December 31, 2009) Pompous, arrogant media liberal Carol Marin thought she was going to promote Mark Kirk’s senate campaign by manhandling Andy Martin in a 5-minute interview New Year’s Eve at NBC Chicago. Martin turned the tables on Marin and launched a verbal attack on Marin at the NBC 5 studio. Martin put Marin through a buzz saw and administered the strongest chastisement of Marin’s media career, exposing Marin as a liar and fraud who used bogus questions and misleading facts to attack Martin.
The five-minute interview turned into a 45-minute verbal slugfest between the two veteran broadcasters. Martin has over forty (40) years of radio and TV experience and Marin is a relative newcomer with 30 years behind her.
“Marin started out by lying about my military record,” Martin says. “I have an Honorable Discharge and I am very proud of that fact. I took the oath of enlistment at the age of 18. Marin was trying to suggest that the dirty tricks of the Illinois Supreme Court in trying to retaliate against me for helping to remove two corrupt judges from that court somehow undermined my military record.
“I offered Marin a copy of my Honorable Discharge but she wasn’t interested in the truth. She wants to wallow in her liberal Democrat lies.
“Both in public records, which unlike Mark Kirk I have fully opened to the public, and in private classified service to my country, my record of service is unparalleled. I will not let a liberal hatchet lady like Marin slander me or any other veteran.
“Of course, yesterday Neil Steinberg of the Chicago Sun-Times, Marin’s colleague, ‘endorsed’ Mark Kirk as the ‘new Dick Durbin.’ What an ‘endorsement’ for a Republican candidate. Kirk should repudiate Steinberg’s ‘endorsement,’ but he won’t. Kirk is a liberal Democrat, not a conservative Republican. He relies on his media toadies such as Marin to protect him from viewers and voters.
“Marin for her part is an arrogant, pompous phony who is totally in Mark Kirk's back pocket, along with the rest of Chicago’s liberal media elite. They are a bunch of lying, self-important losers, most of whose companies are losing money or in bankruptcy. That's what the public thinks of them. They are tuning out Marin's lies. People have stopped buying local newspapers.
“Marin falsely accused me of claiming Barack Obama was not an American citizen. She owes me an on-the-air apology for her lack of professionalism. I have never made that claim about Obama. On the contrary, I sued to obtain Obama's birth certificate in Honolulu. Marin was trying to suggest I am a 'birther,' an invented media slur, which I am not. I have legitimate questions about Obama, but suggesting he was not born in Hawai'i is not one of them.
“Marin behaved disgracefully in trying to defraud her viewers about my record. I have debunked claims Obama was born outside the United States. That's why Obama hates me so much. I am scrupulously honest when writing about his secret life, and I have never stooped to his level to tell lies about him.
“Marin was ‘loaded with lies’ and I was ‘loaded for bear’ with the truth. I demolished her obnoxious TV presence.
“I challenge NBC to play the entire interview unedited, as well as Comcast and the Sun-Times. Play it all Carol, give your viewers the truth for a change,” Martin challenges. "We may sue to force release of the entire tape.
“I will not let liberal media in Chicago attack and malign honest American who fights corruption; I have a distinguished record of accomplishments and public service that neither Carol Marin nor Mark Kirk can approach (www.AndyMartin.com). Efforts to protect Kirk by attacking me are backfiring and boomeranging on the media.
“Marin was literally punch drunk at the end. She kept throwing low blows, and I kept deflecting them back in her face with the truth. She knew she had been exposed as a fraud. I am sure she will try to fix the tape and edit it out of context, but we will be in touch with NBC lawyers on Monday to assert our common law copyright to the material.
“Carol Marin got a preview of how I intend to fight back against liberal media bias as Illinois’ new U. S. Senator in Washington. Liars like Marin have had a free ride from Republicans for far too long. Today I served notice on that media phony she can’t lie about me,” Martin says.

What is happening to NBC News?
A couple of weeks ago, Carol Marin stole one of my stories and allocated it to my opponent. I guess that’s the definition of chutzpah. It sure ain’t the definition of “news.”
Then over the weekend Mary Ann Ahern said I didn't exist.
Guess what: I am the only candidate for United States Senator in the Republican party who has run statewide before (Mark Kirk hasn’t). I carried or nearly carried (close) 45 counties, and received almost a quarter of a million votes. Last year. Mary Ann Ahern is either corrupt or incompetent in ignoring my existence. Which is it?
The latest insult to the traditions of NBC News surfaced today. I was reading an entry on your web site “Mark Kirk Goes Rogue,”

and I was stunned to find at the end of the story it was posted by someone called Steve Rhodes who runs some sort of web site, The Beachwood Reporter. http://www.beachwoodreporter.com/
“Beachwood” is receiving money from outside sources to fund its operations. So NBC is using on its own web site “news” generated by someone who is being funded by third parties and reportage is by Steve Rhodes, whose journalistic credentials are nowhere to be found.
Who vets Mr. Rhodes’ views, credentials or qualifications? You are the VP of “News.” Do you know what Rhodes' credentials are? Do you know all of his funding sources? You are receiving “content” from an outside franchise without any apparent oversight from NBC management in Chicago. At least when we point the finger at Marin and Ahern we have some idea who signs their paychecks. Who signs Rhodes’ paycheck?
What’s left of NBC news? The more you hollow out the organization and “franchise” news to liberal local web sites, the less people will turn to you. At least when they read my Internet newspaper and blogs, www.ContrarianCommentary.com, they know who is writing and what our point of view is.
I am not in the business of defending Mark Kirk, “the Kirkster” as we call him, but when Kirk is attacked by someone who is obviously a typical liberal (Rhodes) then I am concerned by the increasingly left-wing slant of NBC News. Moreover, no one knows Rhodes’ credentials to be a political commentator, and nowhere are they stated either on your web site or his.
What if you were carrying my comments from http://www.contrariancommentary.com/, without any disclosure or attribution as a conservative? Would that be fair? I don’t think so. But then real conservatives have ethics and integrity; liberals don’t.
Rhodes claims to know Kirk has “internal polls,” which no one has previously stated Kirk has, and Rhodes then trashes Kirk’s opponents by claiming they are not “credible.”
The only genuine ”news" story Kirk has generated recently, ignored by the Marin/Ahern combo, was that the Kirkster issued a bogus "poll" listing all of his primary opponents except me.
I wonder if he left my name out because I am the only Republican who has run statewide before? Or maybe I was in the "internal poll" but not in the publicly released "poll?" A case of news management? 100% Would your political bloodhounds Marin and Ahern be interested in Kirk’s lacuna? Not at all. They are a press release service for Kirk. These dogs not only don't hunt, they eat what they are fed by Kirk and nothing else.
I have a more credible statewide voting record than Kirk, because I have run statewide and he hasn’t. When are you going to report the facts instead of merely parroting Kirk’s propaganda?
More and more people trust the media less and less. The Rhodes/Beachwood example is Class A evidence why so-called “mainstream” media are dying. You hire liberals to attack Republicans, and demand that Kirk remain a liberal or face criticism from Rhodes & Co. Rhodes in turn has his own political agenda, which is not balanced by any conservative voices. WMAQ-TV has become a one-sided liberal megaphone for the left.
I was hired by NBC News in 1967 and seriously considered accepting the offer. But the NBC News of 1967 no longer exists. People like Bill Corley are no longer welcome at NBC. NBC wants bubbleheads that steal stories and manifest total ignorance of politics as “political” commentators.
What you have today at NBC news is a dying franchise being operated by outside contractors. It’s sad.

Dear Susan:
I was amused by your thumbnail sketches of the candidates for state office. And, yes, I am a “corruption fighter,” so you got the big picture right.

But I felt that your overall essay was skewed by the fact you consulted pro-Obama news media to write a story about me. Obama is not neutral or objective about me, and neither are his sycophants in the media.
Last weekend Channel 5’s Mary Ann Ahern actually pretended I didn’t exist. Recently Channel 5’s Carol Marin stole one of my story lines and attributed it to my principal opponent. What is it with you women?
So rather than complain, I thought I would help you become a better news writer, and offer you a short course in Andy Martin.
Together we can rewrite your biography about me to show your viewers a clearer picture of my accomplishments and character. When people find out the facts about Andy Martin, they want to support me.
I would have started your sketch of me with the observation that I have been involved in broadcasting for 41 years. (I could go even further back and tell you when I was hired by NBC News in Chicago, but that’s another story). I am the youngest person ever authorized to own a TV station (you can check FCC records for that one). And so I am probably the “dean” of media in Illinois by virtue of my longevity and experience. I started when “video” meant two-inch wide tape.
I was part of the first major sex discrimination case at the Federal Communications Commission, and worked to create advancement opportunities for women. Four decades ago. (Source: FCC Docket Number 19801).
You mentioned a TV commercial I produced about George Bush in 1999, ten (10) years ago. You left out the most interesting part of the commercial. My commercial predicted Bush would invade Iraq. My prediction was made in 1999. Now that’s solid news judgment. I knew Bush before Bush knew Bush. I don’t just toot my horn; I have a public record you can consult to confirm my claims.
You also missed the larger point. You were writing about a TV commercial I produced a decade ago. How many advertising people have produced TV spots that others are still writing about a decade later? Not many. One of my political enemies (I am not sure which one yet, Kirk or Obama) is currently broadcasting a TV spot I made 13 years ago. They just can’t get enough of Andy’s TV ads. That should tell you I understand the broadcast medium as few others have over the decades.
You claim that I have written “rumors” about Barry Obama’s Muslim religion. Ultimately, of course religion is a disposable diaper for Obama. When it suits his purposes he’s a Muslim, see e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=tCAffMSWSzY#t=28
And when it suits his purposes he’s a “Christian.” Obama has been in the White House for ten months, and still hasn’t “found” a church in Washington. I doubt he ever will. Obama is an opportunist, not a Christian.
But Obama was a Muslim. He was raised Muslim from the age of 6-10. The fact that Obama was raised as a Muslim in Indonesia is not a "rumor," it is a fact. There is general nationwide agreement that I was the first writer to highlight that fact. The reality is, Obama can’t airbrush the truth away, at least not when I am pursuing the truth, and neither should you. You should have said, instead, that I focused attention on Obama’s secret life and his unknown family connections, and was the first to do so. I’ll plead guilty any day—to telling the truth about Barry Obama. How about you telling the truth about me?
In 2008 Obama and his henchmen paid me the ultimate compliment: they created a dirty tricks operation to undermine my efforts to tell the truth about Obama’s past. It’s not every day that a local boy is the target of a smear machine orchestrated by a presidential campaign but I am bigger and better known because I took Obama’s lies and threw them back in his face.
Obama confirmed what every Illinois Republican should know about me: I am the real McCoy, a tough, successful political infighter they can trust to seek the truth and bring it to public attention. I’ve been doing that all my life. Mine was the first name on Barack Obama’s “enemies list.”
Isn’t it ironic that Obama’s strongest and most successful critic is now a solid candidate (no, Mary Ann Ahern is not right, I do really exist) to succeed to his senate seat? Maybe that’s why David Axelrod is having fits. His smears seem to have no effect on me. Now there’s an interesting story line for you.
Your station is located in Chicago, which has at its core a struggling urban diaspora. Who has been working hard to recruit minorities and fight for civil rights in the Republican Party? You guessed it. Andy Martin.
I am unusual for another reason: I have been an urban educator who taught in an urban university. Few people (in either party) who run for national office have ever stood in a college classroom and actually taught in a minority community. For me it was not a political gimmick. I enjoyed the work. I’ll bet many of your viewers would admire my college teaching. How come you left it out?
Finally, you took my “I am a colorful person” quote slightly out of context. Of course people such as Obama dislike me when I expose the truth about their past. They prefer to hide the truth about themselves and the media often ignore the facts. I can be “colorful” in telling their stories. Just ask the people of Hawai’i, many of whom have “adopted” me because I was the first writer to research the truth about Obama’s Hawai’i years.
But, more deeply, politics usually attracts boring, careerist people. I am not a boring careerist. I have lived an unusual life and I bring my lifetime of experiences with me to the campaign, and hopefully into the Senate.
I spent part of 2003 living in Baghdad, researching and writing about the flawed, failed strategy there--long before the mainstream media realized they had been cheerleaders for a bunch of incompetent politicians in the Green Zone. I coined the phrase the "Emerald City" to describe the "greenies." How many candidates for the Senate have lived in Baghdad, and been on Paul Bremer’s enemies list for being the first to write about his incompetence? Not many.
I am proud of the enemies I have made throughout my life. These enemies all exist because I wrote unpleasant truths and took action to bring the truth to public attention. That’s the kind of person we need as a Senator.
Well, enough of Professor Martin’s first class in “Chicago media truth telling about Andy Martin.” I am sure you will agree that the truth about me, almost all of which was missing from your portrait, is a lot more interesting, and a lot more invaluable to every voter in Illinois, both Republican and even Democrat, than the one-dimensional picture you presented.
Now if I could only get Carol Marin to stop stealing my material, and Mary Ann Ahearn to wake up and smell Andy’s campaign (lavender is the scent), maybe Illinoisans could elect a “real” U. S. Senator who would work for them instead of the special interests, and really fight the crooked political structure in Washington.
After all, I have a documented lifetime record of fighting corruption, way back to 1968 when I exposed and opposed the crooked Illinois Secretary of State. No other candidate in either party has my established record of fighting corruption. No wonder they are envious of my background.
Who can match my record? The Kirkster? Be real. The Kirkster represents everything that is wrong and bad about politics. But you guys at Channel 5 love the little guy. I wonder why.
Finally, decades ago, the Chicago Tribune realized (and wrote) I was an “absolutely brilliant campaigner.” Actually, they were right. I like to rub their noses in that quote, because their current political writer, Rick Pearson, is a creepy fellow who gives me the willies. I was amused by your thumbnail sketches of the candidates for state office. And, yes, I am a “corruption fighter,” so you got the big picture right.

But I felt that your overall essay was skewed by the fact you consulted pro-Obama news media to write a story about me. Obama is not neutral or objective about me, and neither are his sycophants in the media.
Last weekend Channel 5’s Mary Ann Ahern actually pretended I didn’t exist. Recently Channel 5’s Carol Marin stole one of my story lines and attributed it to my principal opponent. What is it with you women?
So rather than complain, I thought I would help you become a better news writer, and offer you a short course in Andy Martin.
Together we can rewrite your biography about me to show your viewers a clearer picture of my accomplishments and character. When people find out the facts about Andy Martin, they want to support me.
I would have started your sketch of me with the observation that I have been involved in broadcasting for 41 years. (I could go even further back and tell you when I was hired by NBC News in Chicago, but that’s another story). I am the youngest person ever authorized to own a TV station (you can check FCC records for that one). And so I am probably the “dean” of media in Illinois by virtue of my longevity and experience. I started when “video” meant two-inch wide tape.
I was part of the first major sex discrimination case at the Federal Communications Commission, and worked to create advancement opportunities for women. Four decades ago. (Source: FCC Docket Number 19801).
You mentioned a TV commercial I produced about George Bush in 1999, ten (10) years ago. You left out the most interesting part of the commercial. My commercial predicted Bush would invade Iraq. My prediction was made in 1999. Now that’s solid news judgment. I knew Bush before Bush knew Bush. I don’t just toot my horn; I have a public record you can consult to confirm my claims.
You also missed the larger point. You were writing about a TV commercial I produced a decade ago. How many advertising people have produced TV spots that others are still writing about a decade later? Not many. One of my political enemies (I am not sure which one yet, Kirk or Obama) is currently broadcasting a TV spot I made 13 years ago. They just can’t get enough of Andy’s TV ads. That should tell you I understand the broadcast medium as few others have over the decades.
You claim that I have written “rumors” about Barry Obama’s Muslim religion. Ultimately, of course religion is a disposable diaper for Obama. When it suits his purposes he’s a Muslim, see e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=tCAffMSWSzY#t=28
And when it suits his purposes he’s a “Christian.” Obama has been in the White House for ten months, and still hasn’t “found” a church in Washington. I doubt he ever will. Obama is an opportunist, not a Christian.
But Obama was a Muslim. He was raised Muslim from the age of 6-10. The fact that Obama was raised as a Muslim in Indonesia is not a "rumor," it is a fact. There is general nationwide agreement that I was the first writer to highlight that fact. The reality is, Obama can’t airbrush the truth away, at least not when I am pursuing the truth, and neither should you. You should have said, instead, that I focused attention on Obama’s secret life and his unknown family connections, and was the first to do so. I’ll plead guilty any day—to telling the truth about Barry Obama. How about you telling the truth about me?
In 2008 Obama and his henchmen paid me the ultimate compliment: they created a dirty tricks operation to undermine my efforts to tell the truth about Obama’s past. It’s not every day that a local boy is the target of a smear machine orchestrated by a presidential campaign but I am bigger and better known because I took Obama’s lies and threw them back in his face.
Obama confirmed what every Illinois Republican should know about me: I am the real McCoy, a tough, successful political infighter they can trust to seek the truth and bring it to public attention. I’ve been doing that all my life. Mine was the first name on Barack Obama’s “enemies list.”
Isn’t it ironic that Obama’s strongest and most successful critic is now a solid candidate (no, Mary Ann Ahern is not right, I do really exist) to succeed to his senate seat? Maybe that’s why David Axelrod is having fits. His smears seem to have no effect on me. Now there’s an interesting story line for you.
Your station is located in Chicago, which has at its core a struggling urban diaspora. Who has been working hard to recruit minorities and fight for civil rights in the Republican Party? You guessed it. Andy Martin.
I am unusual for another reason: I have been an urban educator who taught in an urban university. Few people (in either party) who run for national office have ever stood in a college classroom and actually taught in a minority community. For me it was not a political gimmick. I enjoyed the work. I’ll bet many of your viewers would admire my college teaching. How come you left it out?
Finally, you took my “I am a colorful person” quote slightly out of context. Of course people such as Obama dislike me when I expose the truth about their past. They prefer to hide the truth about themselves and the media often ignore the facts. I can be “colorful” in telling their stories. Just ask the people of Hawai’i, many of whom have “adopted” me because I was the first writer to research the truth about Obama’s Hawai’i years.
But, more deeply, politics usually attracts boring, careerist people. I am not a boring careerist. I have lived an unusual life and I bring my lifetime of experiences with me to the campaign, and hopefully into the Senate.
I spent part of 2003 living in Baghdad, researching and writing about the flawed, failed strategy there--long before the mainstream media realized they had been cheerleaders for a bunch of incompetent politicians in the Green Zone. I coined the phrase the "Emerald City" to describe the "greenies." How many candidates for the Senate have lived in Baghdad, and been on Paul Bremer’s enemies list for being the first to write about his incompetence? Not many.
I am proud of the enemies I have made throughout my life. These enemies all exist because I wrote unpleasant truths and took action to bring the truth to public attention. That’s the kind of person we need as a Senator.
Well, enough of Professor Martin’s first class in “Chicago media truth telling about Andy Martin.” I am sure you will agree that the truth about me, almost all of which was missing from your portrait, is a lot more interesting, and a lot more invaluable to every voter in Illinois, both Republican and even Democrat, than the one-dimensional picture you presented.
Now if I could only get Carol Marin to stop stealing my material, and Mary Ann Ahearn to wake up and smell Andy’s campaign (lavender is the scent), maybe Illinoisans could elect a “real” U. S. Senator who would work for them instead of the special interests, and really fight the crooked political structure in Washington.
After all, I have a documented lifetime record of fighting corruption, way back to 1968 when I exposed and opposed the crooked Illinois Secretary of State. No other candidate in either party has my established record of fighting corruption. No wonder they are envious of my background.
Who can match my record? The Kirkster? Be real. The Kirkster represents everything that is wrong and bad about politics. But you guys at Channel 5 love the little guy. I wonder why.
Finally, decades ago, the Chicago Tribune realized (and wrote) I was an “absolutely brilliant campaigner.” Actually, they were right. I like to rub their noses in that quote, because their current political writer, Rick Pearson, is a creepy fellow who gives me the willies. On August 24th I sent you a letter outlining why your purported “polling” in the Illinois U. S. Senate race was erroneous. I received no response.
You have now published another purported “poll” whose sole purpose appears to be to encourage the nomination of an extreme liberal as the Republican candidate.
There are only two candidates for U. S. Senator who have ever run in a statewide election. Mr. Giannoulias and myself. Last year I carried or nearly carried forty-five Illinois counties and received a quarter of a million votes.
Despite my statewide recognition you have “polled” on the names of Democratic senate candidates Hoffman and Jackson, who have never run for office at all, while only polling for one candidate in the Republican primary, my principal opponent Mark Kirk. At least one Democrat comes with significant baggage (Jackson). Kirk, of course, is one of the most extreme liberals in the U. S. House.
Unfortunately, Illinois media and writer such as Carol Marin report your “polling” as though it were unbiased, when it obviously is not.
Last year I was unfairly attacked by Rupert Murdoch, who is the chief executive of one of your principal outlets, who sent one of his operatives, Bill Shine, to maliciously attack me after I offered generous cooperation with one of his programs.
If you are going to poll on Democrats who have never run for office, you need to poll on Republicans as well on a fair and balanced basis.
Mark Kirk recently announced a “poll” in which he “polled” voters on every candidate in the Republican primary, but me.
Now why do you suppose Mr. Kirk left my name off his “poll?”
Kirk’s omission should have alerted you to “something rotten in the state of Denmark,” except that you own polling techniques are equally rotten.
Why would you try to suggest there is no primary election in the Republican Party when even hard left Democratic operative Markos Moulitsas has noted that Mr. Kirk is “facing a competitive primary” and a “scary primary.” Neither Ms. Marin’s column nor your bogus polling reflects Moulitsas’ observations:

(CHICAGO)(July 13, 2009) Internet Powerhouse and U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin announced Monday that he will provide a blockbuster analysis of the Mark Kirk divorce on Thursday, July 16th. While the Kirk divorce records that were obtained from a Virginia court do not directly address the rumors swirling around Kirk, they offer an insight into Kirk's unusual marriage.
"The circumstances of Mark Kirk's divorce are not, strictly speaking, relevant to his performance in congress," Martin said. "But because of the rumors that Representative Kirk generates, his overall approach to Illinois Republicans as a potential statewide candidate must be one of total candor given the Republican Party's tragic experience with Jack Ryan's 2004 'sexless' sex scandal."
"I have scrupulously adhered to a limited discussion of the simple existence of the Kirk rumors, and not an exegesis of their substance. I think that approach strikes an appropriate balance at this stage, given that Kirk has not yet announced for higher office.
"The rumors about Kirk are, of course, widely known within the 10th congressional district itself. They are not yet known statewide. Because he has never run a statewide race, Kirk remains unknown to most voters despite the avalanche of recent pro-Kirk propaganda in the elitist liberal media in Washington and Chicago."

(CHICAGO)(July 10, 2009) Internet Powerhouse and U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin announced Friday that he was the "frontrunner" in the campaign to become the Republican nominee for President Barack Obama's former U. S. Senate seat. Martin said his concentrated campaign to force Congressman Mark Kirk out of the race, succeeded.
"Despite the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza's pumping for one of my primary opponents, I am delighted to claim 'frontrunner' status in the 2010 U. S. Senate Republican primary," Martin said in a statement from vacation. Martin is en route to Southampton, Long Island.
"My campaign is ready to go. We are ready to roll on August 4th; petitioning begins in just 25 days.
"I respect that Andy McKenna will be a formidable adversary in the primary. The question is whether my grass roots campaign can overcome McKenna's financial edge. My campaign has a big challenge, no doubt about it.
"Today I am extending this offer to Mr. McKenna: if he does not seek to rig or manipulate the primary in his role as soon-to-be former state chairman, he will have my support if he wins the nomination. If we see the same 'Combine' shenanigans we saw in 2008, I will oppose McKenna after the primary. The choice is McKenna's.
"I believe Mr. McKenna should step down as IRP Chairman as soon as he starts circulating nominating petitions.
"All I ask is a level playing field in the 2010 primary. Let the voters, not the bosses, decide. If McKenna has confidence in his qualifications, he will not use Democrat Machine hatchet men against me the way he did in 2003.
"I will take my experience and qualifications to the Illinois Republican Party's primary voters. Because of my status as Barack Obama's original critic and longest-standing opponent, the primary will become a focus of national attention.
"Earlier this week, McKenna went to the Washington power brokers to seek their support. Kirk made the same effort. I am only asking the people of Illinois for their backing. There will be no machers or power brokers in my campaign. Mr. McKenna and I will offer contrasting approaches, and contrasting styles. Voters are going to have a real choice," Martin said.
"The question is, which Republican can be the most effective in campaigning against Barack Obama's inevitable smear machine, and, if elected, which Republican can stop Obama's socialist schemes in their tracks?
"The race will not be an easy one for either myself or Mr. McKenna. That is why we should work our best to have an honest and open primary, so that the voters' verdict commands the support of every candidate, and so that we can move forward as a unified party after primary day.

"I usually find conservative attacks on 'RINO's' and similar epithets offensive. No one should be required to tow the party orthodoxy reflexively. But Kirk may be the exception to the rule. He seems to have a permanent finger-in-the-eye of Republican voters and loyalists.
"The fact Chicago's news media are promoting Kirk as a candidate for the Senate shows how out of touch these arrogant media elitists are.
"Kirk is a guy than can stand up to Barack Obama's socialist schemes? He's already part of the Obamanation.
"We are launching a new web site to remind Republicans that Kirk cannot seriously be considered a candidate for U. S. senator. Kirk may represent an ultra-liberal sliver of Illinois. The 10th District is not Illinois," Martin will state. "www.MarkKirk.us will tell the truth about Kirk. We await his response."
Kirk promised a decision on whether he would run for statewide office in April.

"I find it extraordinary," says Martin, "That despite the fact that Congressman Mark Kirk is a foot soldier in the Obama 'revolution,' 'Combine Republicans' in Illinois and the liberal Chicago news media want to shove Mark Kirk down our throats as a U. S. Senate candidate.
"I usually find conservative attacks on 'RINO's' and similar epithets offensive. No one should be required to tow the party orthodoxy reflexively. But Kirk may be the exception to the rule. He seems to have a permanent finger-in-the-eye of Republican voters and loyalists.
"The fact Chicago's news media are promoting Kirk as a candidate for the Senate shows how out of touch these arrogant media elitists are.
"Kirk is a guy than can stand up to Barack Obama's socialist schemes? He's already part of the Obamanation.
"We are launching a new web site to remind Republicans that Kirk cannot seriously be considered a candidate for U. S. senator. Kirk may represent an ultra-liberal sliver of Illinois. The 10th District is not Illinois," Martin will state. "www.MarkKirk.us will tell the truth about Kirk. We await his response."
Kirk promised a decision on whether he would run for statewide office in April.

“When I originally began looking into Mark Kirk’s peculiar behavior as a candidate, I had no idea what to expect,” Andy Martin said. “Lawyers call this ‘due diligence.’ We check the files, review the records, make sure we did not miss anything.
“Then last week I got the first threat from one of Kirk’s supporters.
“Over the weekend, the same ‘supporter’ sent me another threat, and said Kirk was a ‘Superman:’
We the Republican Party in Northeast Illinois have a quiet army of people that will come out and work against you for trying to get cheap media at the cost of our party's unity.
That is not a threat, that is a reality. You are approaching this in the absolute worst possible manner to get the votes you need for furthering your ambitions.
Your little PR release this morning that cites me (I assume) stating that you give out my name for anyone who asks for it ...is great. Do you honestly think that you are going to track with voters using this antics?
I have Kirk on my facebook as you point out, as well as McKenna because I am a Republican (as opposed to you) and they are the elected leaders of my State Party and my District. Whether Kirk runs or not I do not care, he has done a brilliant job for us in the 10th and for America. You are pissing on Superman's cape.
“I take this man’s remarks as a threat, not a threat to harm me physically but a threat to damage me politically for asking Mark Kirk to tell the truth to the People of Illinois.

(CHICAGO)(June 16, 2009) Internet Powerhouse and U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin announced today that Congressman Mark Kirk lied to the People of Illinois and the media when he falsely claimed that his divorce files had been “unsealed.” Martin contacted the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Alexandria, Virginia, where Kirk was divorced, and was advised that the file was “sealed.”
Martin has sent Kirk a letter (see below) threatening to sue Kirk for access to the sealed divorce records. “It looks like we have another ‘Jack Ryan scandal’ on our hands,” Martin stated in releasing the Clerk’s response.
“The mystery over the rumors concerning Kirk’s private life, when now combined with his lies about ‘unsealed’ divorce files that are not in fact ‘unsealed,’ and remain secret, raise grave questions about Kirk’s judgment, integrity and fitness to be a candidate for statewide office. The Illinois Republican Party is already a national laughingstock over the way Jack Ryan imploded. It looks as though Kirk has not learned the lessons of Ryan’s campaign, and is seeking to trigger a new round of litigation about the secrets contained in Kirk’s divorce materials.
[In 2004, Jack Ryan denied there was anything embarrassing in his sealed divorce files. After he won the nomination to oppose Barack Obama, the Chicago Tribune sued to open Ryan’s sealed files. When the California divorce court ordered Ryan’s records made public, Ryan resigned as a candidate and helped power Obama into the U.S. Senate. Carpetbagger Alan Keyes “moved” to Illinois and made a fool out of himself and the Illinois Republicans who invited him to replace Ryan.]
“It is high time Kirk addressed both the rumors about his personal life and why he authorized the release of a lie to the media and public, falsely claiming his divorce case files had been opened to the public when that is in fact not the case.
“Kirk’s belief that the rumors will be contained if he runs for statewide office is delusional. Columnist Carol Marin has already made it clear that Barry Obama is going to trash any Republican who runs for his former senate seat. I call this the “Carol Marin Test.”

Dear Representative Kirk:
Nothing will kill a politician faster than lying to the public.
When your divorce was “finalized,” the divorce files were sealed.
Your office then issued an explicit statement to the media that the divorce file was unsealed and open to public inspection.
As part of my due diligence, I contacted the Clerk of the Alexandria, Virginia Circuit Court and asked for access your divorce file.
This was the Clerk’s response earlier today:

In my earlier letter I reminded you of how Jack Ryan’s lying destroyed his campaign for senator and how he devastated the Illinois Republican Party, inflicting damage that continues to this date.
The Associated Press quoted you yesterday as saying you are raising money for a “big campaign.”

Sadly, it appears you are proceeding along Jack Ryan’s path, and beginning your “big campaign” with a big lie.
Before I file suit against you and your former spouse in Virginia to open your divorce case, I would like to afford you until Thursday, June 18th to notify the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Alexandria that your divorce file should be unsealed, and that I am authorized to receive a copy of the complete file.
Failing same, we will be in court exposing your big lie, and seeking to put in the public domain the legal documents that you previously, and falsely, claimed had already been made public.
I would suggest you have your divorce attorneys contact me, and copy me with all of their correspondence with the Clerk.
I will be continuing my investigation to determine who actually made the misrepresentation to the media that the file had been “unsealed” when that was obviously a lie. The Clerk’s e-mail speaks for itself. I am making available to you a copy of the actual e-mail (as opposed to the text version above).
Let me be clear: I have said I would not exploit the facts concerning the rumors about your personal life. But I do believe you must address those rumors before you become a candidate.
Likewise, when you lie to the people, and falsely claim that a “sealed” file is “unsealed” when in fact it is not, then such lies have nothing to do with your “personal life” and everything to do with lying to the public. I will attack you for lying to the public and media.

(CHICAGO)(June 16, 2009) Internet Powerhouse and U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin announced today that Congressman Mark Kirk lied to the People of Illinois and the media when he falsely claimed that his divorce files had been “unsealed.” Martin contacted the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Alexandria, Virginia, where Kirk was divorced, and was advised that the file was “sealed.”
Martin has sent Kirk a letter (see below) threatening to sue Kirk for access to the sealed divorce records. “It looks like we have another ‘Jack Ryan scandal’ on our hands,” Martin stated in releasing the Clerk’s response.
“The mystery over the rumors concerning Kirk’s private life, when now combined with his lies about ‘unsealed’ divorce files that are not in fact ‘unsealed,’ and remain secret, raise grave questions about Kirk’s judgment, integrity and fitness to be a candidate for statewide office. The Illinois Republican Party is already a national laughingstock over the way Jack Ryan imploded. It looks as though Kirk has not learned the lessons of Ryan’s campaign, and is seeking to trigger a new round of litigation about the secrets contained in Kirk’s divorce materials.
[In 2004, Jack Ryan denied there was anything embarrassing in his sealed divorce files. After he won the nomination to oppose Barack Obama, the Chicago Tribune sued to open Ryan’s sealed files. When the California divorce court ordered Ryan’s records made public, Ryan resigned as a candidate and helped power Obama into the U.S. Senate. Carpetbagger Alan Keyes “moved” to Illinois and made a fool out of himself and the Illinois Republicans who invited him to replace Ryan.]
“It is high time Kirk addressed both the rumors about his personal life and why he authorized the release of a lie to the media and public, falsely claiming his divorce case files had been opened to the public when that is in fact not the case.
“Kirk’s belief that the rumors will be contained if he runs for statewide office is delusional. Columnist Carol Marin has already made it clear that Barry Obama is going to trash any Republican who runs for his former senate seat. I call this the “Carol Marin Test.”

Dear Representative Kirk:
Nothing will kill a politician faster than lying to the public.
When your divorce was “finalized,” the divorce files were sealed.
Your office then issued an explicit statement to the media that the divorce file was unsealed and open to public inspection.
As part of my due diligence, I contacted the Clerk of the Alexandria, Virginia Circuit Court and asked for access your divorce file.
This was the Clerk’s response earlier today:

In other words, you or your representatives lied to the People of Illinois and the media when they claimed the file was unsealed.
In my earlier letter I reminded you of how Jack Ryan’s lying destroyed his campaign for senator and how he devastated the Illinois Republican Party, inflicting damage that continues to this date.
The Associated Press quoted you yesterday as saying you are raising money for a “big campaign.”

Sadly, it appears you are proceeding along Jack Ryan’s path, and beginning your “big campaign” with a big lie.
Before I file suit against you and your former spouse in Virginia to open your divorce case, I would like to afford you until Thursday, June 18th to notify the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Alexandria that your divorce file should be unsealed, and that I am authorized to receive a copy of the complete file.
Failing same, we will be in court exposing your big lie, and seeking to put in the public domain the legal documents that you previously, and falsely, claimed had already been made public.
I would suggest you have your divorce attorneys contact me, and copy me with all of their correspondence with the Clerk.
I will be continuing my investigation to determine who actually made the misrepresentation to the media that the file had been “unsealed” when that was obviously a lie. The Clerk’s e-mail speaks for itself. I am making available to you a copy of the actual e-mail (as opposed to the text version above).
Let me be clear: I have said I would not exploit the facts concerning the rumors about your personal life. But I do believe you must address those rumors before you become a candidate.
Likewise, when you lie to the people, and falsely claim that a “sealed” file is “unsealed” when in fact it is not, then such lies have nothing to do with your “personal life” and everything to do with lying to the public. I will attack you for lying to the public and media.
For shame.

Chicago Daily Observor confidently declares that Mark Kirk will not run for Burris's Senate seat, but will seek re-election to his IL-10 House seat.

Mark Kirk. U. S. Rep. Mark Kirk, preferred by GOP ticket-planners to run for either governor or senator, will decline both jobs in order to seek reelection to his House seat, I have been told on what I believe is excellent authority. The reason is not political but personal. His decision will likely be spun as acknowledgment that no Republican can win either race... a conclusion the liberal media will quickly buy and propagate: but the true reason lies not in politics but with other concerns. This decision leaves the list wide open for the two top spots, governor and senator. Kirk was the odds-on favorite of liberal media and prominent GOP fund-raisers who have sought to raise double-digit millions for him and the ticket, if he were to have run for governor. At the same time, it was noted that Kirk's strong pro-abort positions and other liberal stances... i.e. his support of the so-called "hate crimes" legislation... would deprive him of social conservative support in the primary-but the ticket-builders argued that this could be offset by other candidates on the ticket: a conclusion that has been widely disputed. My own feeling is that Kirk would be a better choice for U.S. Senator than governor-although I wouldn't have voted for him for either job. ** Tom Roeser is the Chairman of the Chicago Daily Observer Editorial Board.
Well, at least one announcement actually did came out -- Kirk is finally finishing up his divorce (see Politico column, "Shenanigans":
"Rep. Mark Kirk is almost officially divorced. 'Congressman Kirk is separated from his wife, and they are working out the final divorce details,' his spokesman confirmed to Shenan."
However, even though he promised an announcement at the end of April after months of mulling about it, this is not the announcement Republicans were waiting for. Kirk has not yet announced what he is going to do about statewide office.
Although Chicago Daily Observer and his excellent authority have it wrong (at this point), it leaves some interesting questions.
Why the delay? Why the Hamlet act? What's behind the indecision? The Republicans are dying for Kirk to step up and go after the seat. They're ready to throw big money at Kirk to claim Obama's former seat, even though he is a moderate Republican, voted for SCHIP and the first bailout. But what is Kirk afraid will be revealed? Getting a divorce is not a scarlet letter anymore, even among Republicans. Sure, they might squawk a little about divorce...a worse attack on marriage than same sex marriage.
So, what is the problem? Inquiring minds want to know!

“As a 2010 primary candidate I know we are going to see the usual Chicago Tribune’s Rick Pearson column the week before the primary detailing the same stale accusations that my opponents always make and which usually create a backlash in my favor.
“But what about Kirk? Does he have a ‘Jack Ryan problem?’ I think Kirk owes us an open and honest answer now, not later. Jack Ryan’s inability to confront his own life created chaos in 2004 and inflicted damage on the Illinois Republican Party that is still having an impact.
“My letters pose difficult questions for both men. But Republicans are entitled to answers. We will release the texts this afternoon at 4:00 P.M.,” Martin says.

“No one doubts if anyone throws mud at me, I will throw it right back, and I know how. So in my case as a nominee, maybe the Democrats will avoid smears and try addressing the issues, for a change.
“As a 2010 primary candidate I know we are going to see the usual Chicago Tribune’s Rick Pearson column the week before the primary detailing the same stale accusations that my opponents always make and which usually create a backlash in my favor.
“But what about Kirk? Does he have a ‘Jack Ryan problem?’ I think Kirk owes us an open and honest answer now, not later. Jack Ryan’s inability to confront his own life created chaos in 2004 and inflicted damage on the Illinois Republican Party that is still having an impact.
“My letters pose difficult questions for both men. But Republicans are entitled to answers. We will release the texts this afternoon at 4:00 P.M.,” Martin says.

Martin says that Representative Mark Kirk is incapable of passing the "Carol Marin test."
Martin is launching "Kirk Week" to attack Representative Mark Kirk on Kirk's political record. "There will be no personal or family smears against Kirk from me," says Martin.
"I need a primary opponent. The corrupt 'Combine' that rules both political parties, and Chicago's flaccid news media, are having heart spasms at the prospect that I might be the Republican U. S. Senate candidate in 2010. Mark Kirk is the 'Combine candidate.' Why won’t Kirk announce? That dog won’t hunt.
"Kirk may have been distracted by his recent divorce, but if a simple family matter throws him off track, how can he stand the stress and struggle of a statewide campaign?
"Under existing state law, which looks increasingly unlikely to be modified, we start petitioning in approximately sixty days.
"Carol Marin has posited that "Any Republican seriously thinking of running for Senate will have to run against Obama."

Obama smeared his Democratic primary opponent in 2004 with marital woes. He smeared Jack Ryan, his original 2004 opponent with Ryan's 'sexless' sex scandal. More marital muck. He was gearing up in 2008 to smear Senator John McCain with McCain's marital history.

"When people ask me if I have skeletons in my closet, I tell them I have so many skeletons I can’t even close the closet. Big deal. You fight crooks in politics, you make enemies. Corrupt federal and state judges hate me. Crooked lawyers tremble. In other words, they know I am capable of throwing as much dirt back at them as they direct at me.
"Obama put me on the front page of the New York Times with a national smear campaign, and I fired right back.
"I have exposed more of Obama's lies than anyone else in the media (see below). All of my reporting about Obama has subsequently been verified and confirmed by Obama himself.
"In effect, I was 'vetted' by the Obama smear machine in 2008. The best they could come up with against me was a 25 year-old lawsuit with some controversial language, part of the mud thrown by all of the participants in that case. Not much.
"In other words, the Democrats know I will be as nasty as they are if that's the way they want to campaign. Maybe then they will stick to the issues and we can debate our national agenda.
"I am the only Republican who has the experience and expertise to be a credible opponent against the Democratic candidate in November, 2010.
"Mark Kirk? He's become the 'Hamlet' of Illinois politics. How is he going to fight a campaign when he can't even make up his mind to become a candidate?
"In the past, Andy McKenna and his crooked 'Combine Republicans' have rigged the primary against me, using their straw men as fronts. But McKenna is going to have a hard time rigging the 2010 primary when he is under relentless attack for his own corruption and mismanagement of the Illinois Republican Party.
"Mirabile dictu. We might actually have an honest and open election, despite McKenna's current attempts to create a 'closed' 2010 Republican statewide primary.
"McKenna's 2008 Senate candidate was a joke. Steve Sauerberg promised millions and produced very little after the primary. And after rigging the primary with bogus endorsements and his usual dirty tricks, McKenna abandoned his stooge; Sauerberg became a complete embarrassment to the Illinois Republican 'Combine' Party.
"I am ready for battle, and battle-tested under the most excruciating conditions: attacks by the Obama smear machine. Can Kirk show any similar ability and experience to stand up to Obama's malicious campaign tactics?
"Can he pass the 'Carol Marin test?' I don’t think so," Martin says. "Marin's 'test' posits that Obama will take a personal interest in the 2010 senate race, and gear up his smear machine. Can Kirk stand up to Obama's heat? Who believes Kirk can pass the Marin test? No one.
"If the Democrats want to debate the issues, I am ready. And if they want to go hand-to-hand, I'm ready for a mud fight. Just ask Barry Obama what kind of an opponent I can be.
