ANDY MARTIN asks Appellate Court to put his name on the ballot
Illinois corruption-fighter Andy Martin, whose brawling style of pursuing Chicago gangster politicians and judges fits snugly in the Illinois milieu, has asked the Illinois Appellate Court in Chicago to place his name on the November 2nd ballot. Martin says Illinois politics is hopelessly corrupt, from the father daughter “crime family” of Lisa and Michael Madigan, to crooks in the Illinois Republican Party. Martin says that machine politicians in both parties want to deprive voters of meaningful choices in November. Martin says Mark Kirk is unfit to hold office.

APPELLANT’S NAME ON THE BALLOT PENDENTE LITE OR TO SUSPEND
THE PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GENERAL ELECTION BALLOTS
Pursuant to Local Rule 6 Appellant moves this Honorable Court to order the placement of his name on the General Election ballot, pendente lite or, in the alternative, to direct the State of Illinois and its subdivisions to suspend the printing and distribution of ballots.
I.
THE FACTS APPLICABLE TO THIS MOTION
A. Who is the Appellant?
The Appellant has been fighting corruption in Illinois politics for forty-four years, since he was a law student at the University of Illinois College of Law. He first gained some notoriety in 1968 when he exposed that Secretary of State Paul Powell was collecting bribes; Powell died shortly thereafter and left behind shoeboxes stuffed with cash.
It is axiomatic that someone who has devoted his entire .professional life to fighting corruption is highly unpopular in both the political and judicial spheres of Illinois.[1] And appellant is unpopular, precisely because he seeks to protect and vindicate constitutional rights and oppose the corrupt practices which are so prevalent in this state.
Nevertheless, it is precisely because Appellant is willing to fight for the Constitution that this Court should afford him some measure of respect.
B. What is the State’s strategy?
The Attorney General told the circuit judge that the state wanted new hearings before the State Board of Elections if the Appellant prevailed in court. In other words, the state wants hearings after the election is over concerning whether a candidate is qualified to run in already-conducted election. The political machine of Michael Madigan and his daughter Lisa Madigan is just as corrupt and odious as the political machine of Pat Brady and the Illinois Republican Party who are acting against Appellant.
The current “joke” in the media is that Madigan has chosen his own Republican to run against. See attached Chicago Tribune story. What the author John Kass leaves out is that the Republican Party is chiding Madigan to draw attention from its own corrupt shenanigans against Appellant and other candidates before the State Board, employing straw men, conduits and illegal payments under federal law.
Can it get any worse? Should appellant be ridiculed for trying to clean up the Illinois cesspool one campaign for office and one election at a time?
C. The Emergency
Every two years Illinois courts conduct “election litigation” while votes are being cast in the very election where the courts are reviewing the qualifications of candidates. This year is no different. The attached articles confirm that (i) votes are being cast and ballots are being distributed while Appellant and other new political parties are fighting to be on the ballot; and (ii) in an ultimate paean to absurdity, election officials hope that citizens will not cast votes because of the unsettled state of the ballot.
D. The Illinois judicial system as an institution is
delegitimized when it participates in the electoral charades and sham election litigation involving straw men, conduits and perjured testimony that have become a hallmark of the election process in Illinois
When a court allows itself to be a part of a charade, the court suffers as an institution. Citizens believe that Illinois politics are corrupt. To the extent that the courts participate in a corrupt process the courts ultimately and eventually lose legitimacy as impartial arbiters of constitutional rights and procedures.
There is no rational reason why Illinois should be unlike other states, almost all of which manage to avoid electoral litigation altogether by prohibiting straw men/conduit “objectors” and endless proceedings over ballot access, and which (ii) manage to resolve ballot issues before the ballots are printed and distributed, not after.
The current system of conducting Illinois elections serves the interests of corrupt public officials and corrupt political parties. Ipso facto, the system violates the U.S. Constitution as applied to candidates for federal office.
II.
LEGAL BASIS TO GRANT RELIEF
A. The Court has authority to award relief pendente lite
The Court has the authority to issue orders which protect the rights of the Appellant while the Court considers the unusual constitutional issues presented. And, after placing Appellant on the ballot pendente lite, the Court can always remove him nunc pro tunc if it later finds he should not prevail. But voters will be allowed to “cast their votes” on Appellant’s candidacy “at a meaningful time and in a meaningful manner.”
B. The Court owes a higher duty to federal candidates
State courts are presumed to be competent to adjudicate federal constitutional rights and enjoy concurrent jurisdiction, Taflin v. Levitt, 493 U. S. 455, 458, 110 S. Ct. 792 (1990).
Regrettably, federal courts have held that state and local candidates are entitled to less procedural and substantive protection in electoral disputes than candidates for federal office. But there is a principled constitutional basis for that distinction.
Federal candidates are created by the U. S. Constitution; their candidacies are supervised by federal election officials at the Federal Election Commission and U. S. Senate; state officials play a limited, ministerial role as to candidacies and even ballot procedures must conform to the higher standards of the U.S. Constitution and federal law. Thus the Court has a basis to order the placement of Appellant’s name on the ballot.
The Court certainly reserves the right to rule adversely to the Appellant a later date, but the Court will no longer be conducting serious constitutional litigation under the hydraulic pressure of voters who are literally voting in the election where Appellant is a candidate.
Ironically, if this Court were to take a strong stand against present practices and issue a favorable interim ruling in Appellant’s favor, the General Assembly might in the future amend the election laws to afford judges a more rational period of time to resolve election disputes before ballots are printed and voters start voting. The current system is “broken.”
This is the classic case in which to order relief because the decision of the circuit court is objectively illogical and absurd: the court ruled that despite a very explicit and detailed statutorily-mandated procedure for service of process created by the Election Code, the fact that the respondent State Board of Elections failed to serve the Appellant was irrelevant and meaningless. The Appellant was deemed to be “aware” of the proceedings because he fled a lawsuit protesting the lack of proper statutory-mandated service!
Nothing could be more calculated to make the Illinois courts look ridiculous than a ruling in which protesting you have not been served suspends the need for actual service of process.
As long as the Courts act in a supine manner and pretend to ignore the reality of what is going on, the charade will continue.

ANDY MARTIN: Mark Kirk’s lawyers get caught in a lie
Illinois corruption-fighter Andy Martin caught Mark Kirk’s lawyers in a lie. In a heated Monday morning hearing in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Kirk’s attorneys, who are trying to keep Martin off the ballot, admitted they had lost contact with their “client” Andrew Heffernan. Heffernan faces possible criminal charges for violating federal election laws by falsely claiming he was interested in opposing Martin, when Heffernan was only a front man for the Republican Party. (CHICAGO)(September 21, 2010) Illinois Reform Party U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin, whose “Bunker Buster” news conferences and political advertising earlier this year opened the door for national media to destroy the political career of Closeted Congressman Mark Kirk, will launch new attacks Tuesday on Kirk and the corrupt leadership cadre of the Illinois Republican Party.
On Saturday, Martin helped trigger massive demonstrations against Glenn Beck’s presence in Illinois on behalf of Pat Brady and other corrupt Republicans.
“There is a massive disconnect between ‘Illinois Republicans’ and the Illinois Republican Party,” Martin says. “Most Illinoisans who vote Republican are honest, hard-working, God-fearing citizens. They are pretty good conservatives. But the management of the ‘Illinois Republican Party’ is nothing but a bunch of crooks, led by Pat Brady and his sleazy staff, including legal masquerader Brien Sheahan.”
Brien Sheahan is the DuPage County Republican factotum who was engaged in a scandalous sexual relationship with a married Republican official; Sheahan reportedly got married recently to deflect rumors that he is gay.
“Most Republicans do not realize that when they contribute their precious, hard-earned money to the Illinois Republican Party, Pat Brady is siphoning off that cash to pay Brien Sheahan $35,000 a year for serving as ‘General Counsel,’” Martin notes. “John Fogarty, Jr. also profits from cash which contributors believe will be used to fight Democrats. Brady, Sheahan and Fogarty are looting the Republican Party for their own political and personal enrichment. The rest of the office staff of the Party is not much better, if at all.
“I am working on behalf of good Republicans, not the crooked cabal of ‘Republicans’ that is part of the bipartisan ‘Combine of corruption’ in Illinois politics.
“Monday Mr. Sheahan was caught in a lie, in open court, on a transcript. Sheahan told Circuit Judge Robert Bertucci that Sheahan had ‘not been served’ with Martin’s appellate materials. As required by state law, I was serving Sheahan’s ‘client,’ not Sheahan personally. Sheahan didn’t even know what the statute required. Sheahan’s confession was recorded on tape as well as being taken down by a court reporter.
“We now have conclusive evidence that Andrew Heffernan, who faces federal prison because of his fraudulent election affidavits and blatant perjury before the Illinois State Board of Elections, no longer communicates with Sheahan and Fogarty. Heffernan has belatedly realized that he is being used as a ‘chumbolone’ by the higher-ups in the Illinois Republican Party. Heffernan is committing the actual crimes, by lying abut his relationship to Sheahan and Fogarty as well as by lying about Heffernan’s real role as a stooge ‘objector’ for Illinois Republican Party leaders.
“What was the General Counsel of the Illinois Republican Party doing in court Monday claiming to act as the ‘attorney’ for someone who is supposed to be an independent ‘citizen objector?’ Obviously, Heffernan now realizes he has been used, and he could go to jail, while Sheahan collects $35,000 a year from the Republican Party for doing nothing. It is sleazy.
“But the real majordomo of sleaze in Illinois Republican circles is Mark Kirk, the ‘Closeted Congressman’ who is famous in Chicago’s ‘Boys Town’ for his escapades as a ‘gay blade’ in that neighborhood.
“Last year I told Pat Brady if he ran a crooked primary on behalf of Kirk, he and Kirk would pay for it this November. Brady ran a crooked primary, and they will be paying for it between now and November 2nd. Tuesday we drop the first ‘Bunker Buster.’ There are plenty more to come,” Martin says. “And the great thing: all of my evidence and accusations are truthful. I have a proven track record of breaking news and telling the truth about Kirk. Mark Kirk, on the other hand, uses lies to promote himself; I am using the truth to demote him.”

(CHICAGO)(September 21, 2010) Illinois Reform Party U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin, whose “Bunker Buster” news conferences and political advertising earlier this year opened the door for national media to destroy the political career of Closeted Congressman Mark Kirk, will launch new attacks Tuesday on Kirk and the corrupt leadership cadre of the Illinois Republican Party.
On Saturday, Martin helped trigger massive demonstrations against Glenn Beck’s presence in Illinois on behalf of Pat Brady and other corrupt Republicans.
“There is a massive disconnect between ‘Illinois Republicans’ and the Illinois Republican Party,” Martin says. “Most Illinoisans who vote Republican are honest, hard-working, God-fearing citizens. They are pretty good conservatives. But the management of the ‘Illinois Republican Party’ is nothing but a bunch of crooks, led by Pat Brady and his sleazy staff, including legal masquerader Brien Sheahan.”
Brien Sheahan is the DuPage County Republican factotum who was engaged in a scandalous sexual relationship with a married Republican official; Sheahan reportedly got married recently to deflect rumors that he is gay.
“Most Republicans do not realize that when they contribute their precious, hard-earned money to the Illinois Republican Party, Pat Brady is siphoning off that cash to pay Brien Sheahan $35,000 a year for serving as ‘General Counsel,’” Martin notes. “John Fogarty, Jr. also profits from cash which contributors believe will be used to fight Democrats. Brady, Sheahan and Fogarty are looting the Republican Party for their own political and personal enrichment. The rest of the office staff of the Party is not much better, if at all.
“I am working on behalf of good Republicans, not the crooked cabal of ‘Republicans’ that is part of the bipartisan ‘Combine of corruption’ in Illinois politics.
“Monday Mr. Sheahan was caught in a lie, in open court, on a transcript. Sheahan told Circuit Judge Robert Bertucci that Sheahan had ‘not been served’ with Martin’s appellate materials. As required by state law, I was serving Sheahan’s ‘client,’ not Sheahan personally. Sheahan didn’t even know what the statute required. Sheahan’s confession was recorded on tape as well as being taken down by a court reporter.
“We now have conclusive evidence that Andrew Heffernan, who faces federal prison because of his fraudulent election affidavits and blatant perjury before the Illinois State Board of Elections, no longer communicates with Sheahan and Fogarty. Heffernan has belatedly realized that he is being used as a ‘chumbolone’ by the higher-ups in the Illinois Republican Party. Heffernan is committing the actual crimes, by lying abut his relationship to Sheahan and Fogarty as well as by lying about Heffernan’s real role as a stooge ‘objector’ for Illinois Republican Party leaders.
“What was the General Counsel of the Illinois Republican Party doing in court Monday claiming to act as the ‘attorney’ for someone who is supposed to be an independent ‘citizen objector?’ Obviously, Heffernan now realizes he has been used, and he could go to jail, while Sheahan collects $35,000 a year from the Republican Party for doing nothing. It is sleazy.
“But the real majordomo of sleaze in Illinois Republican circles is Mark Kirk, the ‘Closeted Congressman’ who is famous in Chicago’s ‘Boys Town’ for his escapades as a ‘gay blade’ in that neighborhood.
“Last year I told Pat Brady if he ran a crooked primary on behalf of Kirk, he and Kirk would pay for it this November. Brady ran a crooked primary, and they will be paying for it between now and November 2nd. Tuesday we drop the first ‘Bunker Buster.’ There are plenty more to come,” Martin says. “And the great thing: all of my evidence and accusations are truthful. I have a proven track record of breaking news and telling the truth about Kirk. Mark Kirk, on the other hand, uses lies to promote himself; I am using the truth to demote him.”

“The slimy Illinois news media have been Kirk’s accomplices in spreading Kirk’s bogus military claims. In one utterly absurd example in January, Kirk issued a false press releases to the Associated Press, when then uncritically reported Kirk’s lies. Kirk then printed the AP’s lies on his own campaign literature, in effect laundering his lies through the Associated Press. This is journalism? I have posted the U. S. “In endorsing Mark Kirk, left-wing Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg called Kirk a ‘new Dick Durbin’ and Richard Daley’s favorite Republican. Is this what Republicans really want? Another Durbin? A Daley Republican? Is Kirk part of the corrupt bipartisan Combine, or what?
“Finally, Kirk bribed the Republican Party with $50,000 in cash to rig the primary in his favor. The ‘election’ was a travesty. Cash-and-carry democracy is not democracy at all. Dear Republican:
To all of you who voted for me, supported me and encouraged me in the primary I am deeply appreciative. Thank you.
You are probably wondering what happened in the election yesterday. The usual blather from the liberal media conceals, not reveals, the truth. I was the big winner. The corrupt bipartisan “Combine” and the so-called “conservative” wing of the Republican Party were both big losers. Surprised at my conclusions? Let me explain. After a little reflection I think you’ll agree with my analysis.
First, let me take you behind the scenes of my own campaign.
I. Andy’s team prepares to run a primary campaign
The biggest problem we faced during the campaign was a corrupt Republican Party leadership that was trying to rig the primary for Mark Kirk. Beginning on August 20th the resident thug Randy Pollard refused to let me speak at Republican Day in Springfield. The adulterous “legal counsel” of the party, Brian Sheahan, tried to harass me at the State Fair. On and on it went. A circuit judge had to order them to stop harassing me.
In preparing an advertising campaign, we faced a major problem. Because of the large number of anti-Kirk candidates (5), we felt that any ads we ran could help the other candidates as much as my ads helped me. I don’t know if Kirk “salted” candidates in the primary to split up the opposing vote but it sure looks that way. But even if all of the other four candidates were genuine, they were dividing the Kirk opposition vote five ways. Not good for me.
Finally, in mid-December we reached the moment of truth. If we ran no ads, or only generic ads, their impact would be limited. If we ran hard-hitting ads, they might damage Kirk but benefit all of his opponents.
Negative ads work best in a two-person race. If you hammer your opponent successfully, voters switch to you because there is nowhere else to go. If you hammer one of five candidates, people may decide to vote against the target candidate but then support one of the other opponents. We took the risk of running hard-hitting ads because only aggressive anti-Kirk ads could break through the media fog of unabashed support for the Kirkster. In other words, we ran hard-hitting ads because practically speaking we had no other option but to take the risk of helping Kirk’s other opponents as well.
II. Andy’s ads start hitting Kirk with the truth
On December 28th we began bombarding Kirk with the truth. Pat Brady immediately tried to smear me. As he did through the campaign, Brady was actually working against Kirk’s interests. During the next month we exposed Kirk as both a personal and political fraud. Kirk did nothing while a pedophile, Mark Foley, roamed the House of Representatives importuning the children who work there as pages. Kirk was part of the pedophilia cover-up.
Kirk shamelessly inflates his military credentials. We exposed his fraudulent military claims. Each of my commercials was meticulously documented. We exploded the false image of Kirk that the media were feeding Republican voters.
Unfortunately for me, the attacks on Kirk also energized his other opponents to think they had a chance of winning the primary. One candidate attacked my ads publicly and then used Paul Caprio to distribute the same material privately. My ads took Kirk down from what might have been a blowout victory and dropped him into an embarrassing situation where almost half of the Republican Party’s primary base voted against him.
III. Is Kirk really a winner?
Half the primary electorate voted against Kirk despite media claims that his opponents lacked the resources to run an effective campaign. So, if your five opponents lack any money, and only one of them runs broadcast ads on a limited basis (me,) and the rest run no ads or virtually no ads (Hughes) how can that farcical imbalance be deemed an electoral victory?
“Winners” emerge from real contests, not from lopsided and rigged campaigns where everything is fixed in advance and half the voters still reject the favorite. Kirk was a big loser on February 2d. Don’t believe the media and the Pat Brady-inspired lies to the contrary.
IV. Republicans saw a similar situation in the gubernatorial primary
The same thing that happened to me, where my advertising either benefited or encouraged other candidates, also happened in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Senator Bill Brady lacked the money to run ads in the Chicago TV market. In the closing days of the primary, Andy McKenna began to run ads attacking Kirk Dillard for his 2008 support of Barack Obama.
Although McKenna was trying to knock off Dillard so McKenna himself would win, McKenna was not strong enough to reach the top. Instead, McKenna’s attacks on Dillard appear to have had the unintended consequence of nominating Bill Brady.
That’s what happens when you run attack ads in a multi-primary candidate. Your ads could end up benefiting someone other than yourself. In the governor’s race, it is clear that McKenna’s attacks were the little extra needed to cut down Dillard so Brady could eke out a victory. I am sure that is not the outcome McKenna wanted.
V. So-called “pro-family” conservatives became a laughingstock
Patrick Hughes hired Paul Caprio to “bag” endorsements for his flatulent senatorial candidacy. Caprio created the bogus “STOP” campaign as a fig leaf to promote Hughes. Christian conservatives were invited in August to attend a “screening” meeting that Caprio had rigged in advance in favor of Hughes. From the first day he announced, when he claimed he had $400,000 in "commitments,” Pat Hughes was a liar and a loser.
In the closing days of the primary Hughes was shoveling conservative “endorsements” out the door. Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Conservative “this” and Conservative “that.” In the end he had a long list of “endorsements” but none of them actually campaigned for him. On Election Day he could not break 20%. Hughes will go down in history as the man that blew a half million dollars without ever running a single broadcast ad. But his chauffeur was paid $10,000.
Now Hughes is supporting “party unity” and, no surprise, Paul Caprio has his palm out to be greased again. And they call themselves Christians. The “pro-family” movement was exposed as a bunch of incompetent, conspiratorial blowhards. Jack Roeser, who funds almost all of these weenies, lost three out of four campaigns and attacked the only genuine conservative who ran an honest campaign (me). Roeser is another imperious joker.
VI. Where do I go from here?
I will be taking time off and going on vacation. Lots of things get put on hold when you become involved in a statewide race.
I was interviewed in December by NBC News for a special program to air on MSNBC in March. I still can’t tell you what the program is about, because they were never clear, but no doubt I will continue to be a national figure in the anti-Obama movement.
I have blocked out ten days in April to return to Hawai’i to do continuing research on Barack Obama’s origins. I don’t yet know if the sponsorship for the trip will be available.
Locally, before I leave I plan to announce an anti-Mark Kirk effort. Kirk and his supporter Pat Brady ran a dirty campaign and they will not receive my support. I urged Brady to stop the dirty tricks, so the party could unite after the primary. Brady refused. The party will not unite. By comparison, the Democrats that voted for various U. S. Senate candidates will all support the winner.
In the Republican Party, the Republicans who voted against Kirk in the primary will not support him in the general election. Had Brady run a fair and honest primary, I was prepared to support the winner of the primary, as I have in the past. But because Brady is just as crooked as the rest of the sleazy people in the Republican Party’s leadership, Brady has forfeited party unity.
Summing up, the bipartisan “Combine” of corruption was a big loser. The candidates closest to the Combine did not win yesterday. And instead of having a gubernatorial winner, Republicans temporarily have two “winners” who are going to have to fight it out until one of them is acknowledged as the undisputed nominee. Not good. No one has and idea how long that could go on.
In the senate race, because Pat Brady ran a dirty campaign and poisoned the process, he has a candidate, Kirk, who is popular with the media but who was rejected by almost half of the Republican base. To me, that rejection is not a good sign. Kirk may have drawn Quislings like Pat Hughes and John Arrington to his “unity” breakfast on Wednesday, but neither of them has much to offer a statewide campaign. There is no unity when half the candidates refuse to appear with the “winner.” As Kirk’s homosexual Praetorian Guard takes working control of the Republican Party the “rumors” about Kirk will become shriller and more insistent.
As for me, with the limited resources available to my campaign we did a good job of telling the truth about Mark Kirk and stopping the media from completely stealing the senate primary. I feel good about my efforts. That’s why I believe I am a big winner. I live to fight another day for truth, justice and the American way.

Dear Republican:
To all of you who voted for me, supported me and encouraged me in the primary I am deeply appreciative. Thank you.
You are probably wondering what happened in the election yesterday. The usual blather from the liberal media conceals, not reveals, the truth. I was the big winner. The corrupt bipartisan “Combine” and the so-called “conservative” wing of the Republican Party were both big losers. Surprised at my conclusions? Let me explain. After a little reflection I think you’ll agree with my analysis.
First, let me take you behind the scenes of my own campaign.
I. Andy’s team prepares to run a primary campaign
The biggest problem we faced during the campaign was a corrupt Republican Party leadership that was trying to rig the primary for Mark Kirk. Beginning on August 20th the resident thug Randy Pollard refused to let me speak at Republican Day in Springfield. The adulterous “legal counsel” of the party, Brian Sheahan, tried to harass me at the State Fair. On and on it went. A circuit judge had to order them to stop harassing me.
In preparing an advertising campaign, we faced a major problem. Because of the large number of anti-Kirk candidates (5), we felt that any ads we ran could help the other candidates as much as my ads helped me. I don’t know if Kirk “salted” candidates in the primary to split up the opposing vote but it sure looks that way. But even if all of the other four candidates were genuine, they were dividing the Kirk opposition vote five ways. Not good for me.
Finally, in mid-December we reached the moment of truth. If we ran no ads, or only generic ads, their impact would be limited. If we ran hard-hitting ads, they might damage Kirk but benefit all of his opponents.
Negative ads work best in a two-person race. If you hammer your opponent successfully, voters switch to you because there is nowhere else to go. If you hammer one of five candidates, people may decide to vote against the target candidate but then support one of the other opponents. We took the risk of running hard-hitting ads because only aggressive anti-Kirk ads could break through the media fog of unabashed support for the Kirkster. In other words, we ran hard-hitting ads because practically speaking we had no other option but to take the risk of helping Kirk’s other opponents as well.
II. Andy’s ads start hitting Kirk with the truth
On December 28th we began bombarding Kirk with the truth. Pat Brady immediately tried to smear me. As he did through the campaign, Brady was actually working against Kirk’s interests. During the next month we exposed Kirk as both a personal and political fraud. Kirk did nothing while a pedophile, Mark Foley, roamed the House of Representatives importuning the children who work there as pages. Kirk was part of the pedophilia cover-up.
Kirk shamelessly inflates his military credentials. We exposed his fraudulent military claims. Each of my commercials was meticulously documented. We exploded the false image of Kirk that the media were feeding Republican voters.
Unfortunately for me, the attacks on Kirk also energized his other opponents to think they had a chance of winning the primary. One candidate attacked my ads publicly and then used Paul Caprio to distribute the same material privately. My ads took Kirk down from what might have been a blowout victory and dropped him into an embarrassing situation where almost half of the Republican Party’s primary base voted against him.
III. Is Kirk really a winner?
Half the primary electorate voted against Kirk despite media claims that his opponents lacked the resources to run an effective campaign. So, if your five opponents lack any money, and only one of them runs broadcast ads on a limited basis (me,) and the rest run no ads or virtually no ads (Hughes) how can that farcical imbalance be deemed an electoral victory?
“Winners” emerge from real contests, not from lopsided and rigged campaigns where everything is fixed in advance and half the voters still reject the favorite. Kirk was a big loser on February 2d. Don’t believe the media and the Pat Brady-inspired lies to the contrary.
IV. Republicans saw a similar situation in the gubernatorial primary
The same thing that happened to me, where my advertising either benefited or encouraged other candidates, also happened in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Senator Bill Brady lacked the money to run ads in the Chicago TV market. In the closing days of the primary, Andy McKenna began to run ads attacking Kirk Dillard for his 2008 support of Barack Obama.
Although McKenna was trying to knock off Dillard so McKenna himself would win, McKenna was not strong enough to reach the top. Instead, McKenna’s attacks on Dillard appear to have had the unintended consequence of nominating Bill Brady.
That’s what happens when you run attack ads in a multi-primary candidate. Your ads could end up benefiting someone other than yourself. In the governor’s race, it is clear that McKenna’s attacks were the little extra needed to cut down Dillard so Brady could eke out a victory. I am sure that is not the outcome McKenna wanted.
V. So-called “pro-family” conservatives became a laughingstock
Patrick Hughes hired Paul Caprio to “bag” endorsements for his flatulent senatorial candidacy. Caprio created the bogus “STOP” campaign as a fig leaf to promote Hughes. Christian conservatives were invited in August to attend a “screening” meeting that Caprio had rigged in advance in favor of Hughes. From the first day he announced, when he claimed he had $400,000 in "commitments,” Pat Hughes was a liar and a loser.
In the closing days of the primary Hughes was shoveling conservative “endorsements” out the door. Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Conservative “this” and Conservative “that.” In the end he had a long list of “endorsements” but none of them actually campaigned for him. On Election Day he could not break 20%. Hughes will go down in history as the man that blew a half million dollars without ever running a single broadcast ad. But his chauffeur was paid $10,000.
Now Hughes is supporting “party unity” and, no surprise, Paul Caprio has his palm out to be greased again. And they call themselves Christians. The “pro-family” movement was exposed as a bunch of incompetent, conspiratorial blowhards. Jack Roeser, who funds almost all of these weenies, lost three out of four campaigns and attacked the only genuine conservative who ran an honest campaign (me). Roeser is another imperious joker.
VI. Where do I go from here?
I will be taking time off and going on vacation. Lots of things get put on hold when you become involved in a statewide race.
I was interviewed in December by NBC News for a special program to air on MSNBC in March. I still can’t tell you what the program is about, because they were never clear, but no doubt I will continue to be a national figure in the anti-Obama movement.
I have blocked out ten days in April to return to Hawai’i to do continuing research on Barack Obama’s origins. I don’t yet know if the sponsorship for the trip will be available.
Locally, before I leave I plan to announce an anti-Mark Kirk effort. Kirk and his supporter Pat Brady ran a dirty campaign and they will not receive my support. I urged Brady to stop the dirty tricks, so the party could unite after the primary. Brady refused. The party will not unite. By comparison, the Democrats that voted for various U. S. Senate candidates will all support the winner.
In the Republican Party, the Republicans who voted against Kirk in the primary will not support him in the general election. Had Brady run a fair and honest primary, I was prepared to support the winner of the primary, as I have in the past. But because Brady is just as crooked as the rest of the sleazy people in the Republican Party’s leadership, Brady has forfeited party unity.
Summing up, the bipartisan “Combine” of corruption was a big loser. The candidates closest to the Combine did not win yesterday. And instead of having a gubernatorial winner, Republicans temporarily have two “winners” who are going to have to fight it out until one of them is acknowledged as the undisputed nominee. Not good. No one has and idea how long that could go on.

If I had been in Washington the Boone-Winnebago-Stephenson area would not have been shut out of stimulus funding and high-speed rail cash. No one is going to run over me.
“I favor a ‘Manhattan Project’-style simultaneous design and build high-speed rail program to get America moving and get Illinois ‘on the right track, not the side track.’ Trains in staid Great Britain already go 200 miles an hour. Why should Americans be satisfied with less than half that, a decade from now?
“Governor Quinn’s face-saving promise Saturday to deliver Illinois capital funds for rail service is only a desperate, last-minute pre-primary device to stave off the embarrassment of having failed to deliver for Illinois.
“I believe that high-speed rail can only come through Belvidere to Rockford and Freeport. We want to connect an existing corridor of economic activity that can benefit from high-speed connections to the O’Hare and Chicago economies. Republican primary voters have a right to know. On the eve of the Illinois primary, Barry Obama has thrown down the gauntlet. I propose that we throw it right back at him. There is no need to change the ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy. The policy strikes an appropriate balance between the right to privacy and the right to military unit cohesion and decorum. The last thing we need to do in the middle of a war is invite the gay lobby to start filing discrimination lawsuits against our men and women in uniform. Recruitment will suffer. A lot of parents are not going to want to send their kids into a gay-orchestrated military environment.
“Likewise, Patrick Hughes has been afraid to tackle the controversy over gay rights. Well here is Hughes’ chance to tell his supporters where he stands.
“I challenge Kirk and every other Republican to tell Obama ‘No: do not repeal ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’’ I am sure the Associated Press reporter who covers Mark Kirk like a cheap blanket, Deanna Bellandi, can get the Kirkster on the phone. Let’s find out what the little critter has to say about his friend Obama’s latest ‘bomb.’ Let Kirk tell his admirers in the gay community he is against allowing gays to serve openly in the military.
“The issue is not homosexual rights. Homosexuals deserve the very same protection of the law as every other American. They are entitled to the same full protection of the law.
“Unlike Kirk, I do not have a military commission; but I do have an Honorable Discharge from the U. S. Air Force Reserves.
“But unlike Kirk, who fantasizes that he is the greatest ‘fighter’ since Genghis Khan, I have actually been in combat, in the jungle, and in many other precarious military situations. A war zone, a battlefield, a combat unit is no place for political correctness or sexual politics. Not even the kind of ‘fantasy’ war zones Kirk claims to be ‘fighting’ in.
“Obama is wrong. Conservative Republicans are right on this issue. Will Illinois Republicans stand up, despite the homosexual staff operating under State Chairman Pat Brady, with John McGovern acting as the Party’s de facto state executive director, and condemn repeal of ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell?’ I will pose that question Thursday evening in Effingham.
“Will Deanna Bellandi call Kirk to find out where he stands? Or is the Kirkster still in hiding? Republican primary voters want to know.”

“Obama is proposing improvements to a 19th century system," Martin says. “We need a ‘Manhattan project’-style program to build a 21st century high-speed rail network in Illinois and parts of the Midwest.
“A 21st century high-speed rail plan would create hundreds of thousands of jobs. If we proceed on an emergency basis with a simultaneous ‘design and build’ approach, we can start building within months.
“What does high-quality high-speed rail cost in the long run? Zero. The added value to our economy, the added real estate values in communities along the high-speed rail network would pay for the system.
“Property in Kankakee would skyrocket if there was a high-speed train to the loop in thirty minutes. Champaign? One hour. People could commute from Champaign to Chicago. Mattoon and Effingham? One and a half hours. Carbondale? Two and a half hours. By comparison, Obama’s plan to spend billions on worthless improvements to a broken system would add little value to the economy. It’s typical Barry Obama: too little, too late, too timid. Thank God this guy is not Commander-in-Chief.
“High speed rail would tie this state and region together. People could live in their homes and commute to central cities. Our children would no longer have to move to the coasts to find excitement and economic opportunity.
“America’s private enterprise built the ‘war machine’ that saved the world in World War II. Private enterprise can save America in 2010 if we will only have the courage to think big thoughts and invest in our economic future,” Martin says. “This is not a Republican thing or a Democratic thing. This is an American thing.” Martin holds an Economics degree from the University of Illinois.
Martin says all of his opponents in both parties lack the vision and courage to propose major infrastructure investments.
Martin will also slam Mark Kirk and Patrick Hughes as political pretenders who are lying to the people of Illinois.

Martin says that conservative leaders are “playing with fire” by “playing along” with the doomed campaign of Patrick Hughes and other “vanity candidates.” Martin says that Mark Kirk, John McGovern and their associates will bury Illinois conservatives if Kirk wins the senate nomination.

Political pretenders such as Patrick Hughes are about to inflict a serious and possibly fatal injury on Illinois conservatives. The vanity candidates will siphon enough votes in the primary to nominate Kirk. The result will be the death of the Illinois Republican Party.
“Carol Marin and other flacks for Kirk pretend that Kirk’s nomination will lead to a ‘competitive’ senate election in November. Precisely the opposite is true. Kirk’s nomination will be the final nail in the coffin of Illinois Republicans.
“Channel 5 has become a virtual campaign headquarters for Kirk. They even show pictures of an unidentified woman in red with Kirk, the same type of woman in red I used to see on Mark Foley’s arm. It’s a scam, and the media are perpetrating the scam in conjunction with Kirk, John McGovern and the other Beltway hypocrites.
“Republican primary voters have one week to come their senses. A vote for one of my opponents is a vote for Kirk. A vote for Kirk is a vote to turn the Republican Party over to control of John McGovern and his homosexual operators. It’s that plain. "The media are pro-Kirk, and anti-Martin, but like moths drawn to a candle, they keep attacking me and focusing on my campaign. Why? I have stripped the bark off Kirk's bogus military accomplishments as well as other unsavory aspects of his life in Congress. Nuff said. Kirk remains in seclusion.
"Tonight, on a positive note, I will renew my pledge and promise Winnebago Republicans to replicate my effort which led to the construction of Interstate 39, by building a new high-speed rail link for Rockford, and by also upgrading the Rockford Airport. I am the only candidate for U. S. Senator who is a 'builder' with a proven record of delivering for Winnebago County. If you don't believe me, come to Rockford and see Interstate Highway 39 that I brought into existence," Martin says.

(CHICAGO)(January 19, 2010) Republican U. S. Senate candidate and insurgent “Internet Powerhouse” Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Tuesday, January 19th to call for the removal of Kevin Jennings from the U. S. Department of Education.
“Barack Obama has the worst judgment of any president in history,” Martin says. “He has staffed his administration with sexual predators such as Kevin Jennings and Peter Orszag.
“What Mr. Jennings does in the privacy of his own home, or other private facilities, is Jennings’ private business. Period. I respect and defend the right to privacy. Consenting adults should be left alone.
“But when Obama appoints a predator such as Jennings to act as a fiduciary for school children, that is a perversion of the public trust.
“Everyone has a right to privacy, no one has a right to claim public employment and advocate policies that endanger children,” Martin states. I will strive to defund his office and eliminate Jennings’ government job.”
Martin will also hold a Tuesday news conference in Rockford, Illinois at 4:00 P.M.

Senate candidate and insurgent "Internet Powerhouse" Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Monday, January 18th to drop a “Bunker Buster” on Patrick Hughes. “I hear complaints that I only drop Bunker Busters on Mark Kirk. Well, we do not discriminate. We go where the evidence takes us. Mr. Hughes is next. Stay tuned for details.”
Friday evening Martin delivered stirring patriotic remarks at the Winnebago County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.
“The program did not call for speeches,” Martin says. “I was caught completely by surprise when I was asked to be the first speaker at the Lincoln Day Dinner. And so I spoke from the heart. I spoke of ‘following our flag’ around the world, of my memories of brave young men and women in uniform who stand guard for us.
“I spoke of seeing our flag when I lived in Iraq (2003), and when I was in Asia (1967-1971), and Southwest Asia (1979-80). I spoke of my enduring love for the proud young Americans whose lives are engraved on my memory.
“Unlike Mark Kirk, who is a military imposter with an imaginary record of ‘fighting’ in wars where he was never in harm’s way, I have never been on active military duty. But I have been in combat. I have seen men die. Unlike Mr. Kirk, who was never at risk, except in his own vivid imagination, I have dodged bullets, mortars, rockets and more.
“But I have never confused my efforts to get at the truth or to serve my country with the work being done by the American men and women who were doing the fighting. The ones who ‘humped’ the weapons across rice paddies and deserts. The ones who did the real fighting. I am no hero. But I know who our real heroes are. And Mark Kirk is not one of them,” Martin says.
“Mark Kirk ‘dodged fire’ the same way Hillary Clinton ‘came under fire’ in Bosnia. Mark Kirk is as much of a ‘fighter’ as Clinton.
“I have challenged Kirk to release all of his military records since becoming a congressman. He has refused to do so. I have offered media a FOIA release for any of the government’s files on me, some of which may not yet have been declassified. I have no secrets to hide. Kirk does.”
“Mark Kirk does hold a reserve commission. But he uses that commission as a political prop, not as part of genuine service to our nation. Let’s see your military records, Mark. I have opened my files. Why won’t you open yours? What are you hiding?”
While Martin is holding a Bunker Buster news conference on Patrick Hughes, Martin’s “Bunker Buster” advertising challenging Kirk’s misleading and exaggerated military claims also begins airing statewide on the 18th. The Martin campaign continues to ramp up as voters approach Election Day, February 2d.

(CHICAGO)(January 15, 2010) Republican U. S. Senate candidate and insurgent “Internet Powerhouse” Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Friday, January 15th to release his new statewide “Bunker Buster” advertising campaign charging that Mark Kirk appears to have falsified and inflated his military service.
Martin promised to drop a “Bunker Buster” on Kirk at the WLS-TV senate candidates’ debate Thursday evening, and closed by announcing that he had received a letter from the U. S. Navy stating the Navy has no records to document Kirk’s presence in Afghanistan in 2008. Martin released copies of the Navy letter at a post-debate news availability.
Martin compares Kirk to the notorious Wisconsin political fraud U. S. Senator Joe McCarthy, who falsely portrayed himself as “Tail Gunner Joe” to win election. McCarthy had no military record to speak of, and was never a “tail gunner.” McCarthy went on to become notorious for red-baiting and other activity, and gave the name “McCarthyism” to the term.
“Mark Kirk seems to be the latest in a long line of military frauds, the most notorious of which was ‘Tail Gunner Joe,’ Senator Joe McCarthy who terrorized the senate in the 1950’s,” Martin will charge. “The U. S. Navy has no record of Kirk’s ‘deployment’ to Kandahar. I asked Mark Kirk to authorize the release of his military records, and he has refused. It is time for Kirk to release and authorize the Department of Defense to release all military files and records since Kirk became a congressman.
“Kirk appears to be engaging in ‘double-dipping’ payroll fraud. He goes overseas, where he is treated like and acts like a congressman, meeting with senior officials, all while collecting a second paycheck for a ‘deployment’ that is a ‘deployment’ in name only. Kirk times his military excursions to benefit his political campaigns,” Martin charges, “and collects two paychecks for one job. What a Washington beltway fraud. No true Republican and no veteran can vote for a huckster and masquerader like Kirk.”
Martin plans to keep hacking away at Kirk’s endless series of lies, prevarications and exaggerations about Kirk’s personal and military history. The Bunker Buster assembly line remains open.
Martin’s advertising attacks the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times for parroting Kirk’s military propaganda and failing to see actual documentation for Kirk’s service activity.

(CHICAGO)(January 15, 2010) Republican U. S. Senate candidate and insurgent “Internet Powerhouse” Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Friday, January 15th to release his new statewide “Bunker Buster” advertising campaign charging that Mark Kirk appears to have falsified and inflated his military service.
Martin promised to drop a “Bunker Buster” on Kirk at the WLS-TV senate candidates’ debate Thursday evening, and closed by announcing that he had received a letter from the U. S. Navy stating the Navy has no records to document Kirk’s presence in Afghanistan in 2008. Martin released copies of the Navy letter at a post-debate news availability.
Martin compares Kirk to the notorious Wisconsin political fraud U. S. Senator Joe McCarthy, who falsely portrayed himself as “Tail Gunner Joe” to win election. McCarthy had no military record to speak of, and was never a “tail gunner.” McCarthy went on to become notorious for red-baiting and other activity, and gave the name “McCarthyism” to the term.
“Mark Kirk seems to be the latest in a long line of military frauds, the most notorious of which was ‘Tail Gunner Joe,’ Senator Joe McCarthy who terrorized the senate in the 1950’s,” Martin will charge. “The U. S. Navy has no record of Kirk’s ‘deployment’ to Kandahar. I asked Mark Kirk to authorize the release of his military records, and he has refused. It is time for Kirk to release and authorize the Department of Defense to release all military files and records since Kirk became a congressman.
“Kirk appears to be engaging in ‘double-dipping’ payroll fraud. He goes overseas, where he is treated like and acts like a congressman, meeting with senior officials, all while collecting a second paycheck for a ‘deployment’ that is a ‘deployment’ in name only. Kirk times his military excursions to benefit his political campaigns,” Martin charges, “and collects two paychecks for one job. What a Washington beltway fraud. No true Republican and no veteran can vote for a huckster and masquerader like Kirk.”
Martin plans to keep hacking away at Kirk’s endless series of lies, prevarications and exaggerations about Kirk’s personal and military history. The Bunker Buster assembly line remains open.
Martin’s advertising attacks the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times for parroting Kirk’s military propaganda and failing to see actual documentation for Kirk’s service activity.

“Illinois, the home of ‘Lincoln-Douglas debates,’ has now become the fly-over residence of ‘Cut and Run Kirk.’ What is the Kirkster afraid of? Little old me?
“Well I have news for Mr. Kirk. Thursday night we are going to drop a Bunker Buster in the WLS-TV studio. Kirk won’t be there to respond. He ought to be.
“But just so Kirk won’t forget he has a primary, and I am his principal opponent, I plan to dog Kirk in East Peoria. We are trying to organize a demonstration at the Embassy Suites Hotel in East Peoria where Kirk is hiding out.
“I am a little surprised that the county chairmen are indulging Kirk’s ‘escape from Chicago.’ The last time I checked the law, harboring a deserter was almost as bad as desertion. Kirk is a deserter. Are the county chairmen going to join hands and form a protective cordon around Kirk when my supporters approach the little critter and try to ask him why he is ‘hiding out’ in East Peoria?
“Kirk agreed to participate in the WLS-TV debate, and then he reneged. And this man wants to lead the Republican Party in November? The Democrats are watching Kirk. ‘See Mark run.’
“On one level, Kirk’s ‘escape’ is sad. Kirk is over his head in statewide politics. He ran a liberal political shop on the North Shore, but he has no business using downstate precinct committeemen as a beard for his cowardice. What a strategy.
“On the other hand, Kirk is an embarrassment to the people that chose him and sought to make him their standard bearer. Did the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times know what a scardy cat Kirk is? Kirk is embarrassing his supporters by fleeing the city to avoid the televised debate,” Martin will charge at his news conference. “From ‘Lincoln-Douglas’ to ‘Cut and Run Kirk.’ No wonder this state is in such sad shape. The political establishment is rotten to the core.
“I am the only Republican for U. S. Senator who is ‘Illinois Tough.’ I am the only candidate who is ready to lead Republicans against the Democratic Party in November.
