(CHICAGO)(August 2, 2009) Wednesday, August 5th the Republican U. S. senate primary in Illinois will become a two-man race between fading Congressman Mark Kirk and insurgent “Internet Powerhouse” Andy Martin.
“Lake Foresters invited me to march in the Lake Forest Day Parade,” Martin announced Sunday. “And I accepted. I am delighted the American Legion in honoring boy scouting. Scouting is one of the great experiences for young men and women. We can’t do enough to encourage scouting. I salute the Legion.
"Lake County used to be part of Mark Kirk’s ‘base.’ It is still part of his congressional district. What does it say about Kirk’s fading base that his own constituents are inviting an insurgent to march alongside the incumbent? What does it say about Kirk that he has lost his conservative base, and now wants to face a larger and more conservative statewide primary electorate? It says Kirk is delusional. He thinks his Beltway cash can overcome home-state rejection.
“Mark Kirk has abandoned the Republican Party. His primary candidacy is an act of flatulent conceit. People in Lake Forest are not dumb. They know Kirk is also a sure loser for reasons which the ‘meathead media’ are loath to discuss.
“During the last campaign, Kirk referred to African-Americans as ‘thugs’ and 'goons.' What a door-opener in minority communities. Kirk is unwelcome in almost 20% of the state because of his vile racist language.
“We need to rebuild the Republican Party as the Party of all the people, as the Party of Lincoln and Dirksen, not 'thugs' and 'goons.' If I am the nominee in 2010, I will take my senate campaign to minority neighborhoods. I will take our message of opportunity to every street corner in this state, not just white street corners.
“People in Lake Forest may be predominately white, but they are part of the great Republican tradition of Lincoln and Dirksen, a tradition that Kirk rejected when he characterized his opponents as ‘thugs.’ Lake Foresters are in the process of divorcing from Kirk’s racist rhetoric.
“After our competing appearances in the Lake Forest Day Parade, the most important civic event in Lake Forest, Republican voters are going to begin an 'insurgency’ in the direction of my campaign. I am the insurgent candidate against the hidebound leadership of the Illinois Republican Party. I am running a campaign that is going to create an insurgency for change from one end of this state to the other. From rich and tony neighborhoods, to the most impoverished and neglected areas. We will all be one state in my campaign.
“Kirk is the candidate of the losers who have brought Republicans in this state into ridicule and contempt. I am the candidate who is going to snatch the senate nomination and turn the corrupt politics of this state upside down.
“During the Parade my campaign will be on ‘best behavior.’ That is the correct approach. The parade is not a political event. It is a great civic celebration. But we will still be jabbing Kirk, first with a news conference before the parade, and then after the parade with a surprise 'mignon.'
“Lake Foresters know better than anyone that they have been abandoned and betrayed by Kirk and the Republican Party. They have supported a party that has repeatedly and continually shot itself in the foot. Well, Kirk and his sponsor Andy McKenna are out of feet. They have nothing left to shoot at.
“The way forward is not for Republicans to become a ‘liberal’ party as Kirk wants. Rather we should be a practical, common sense conservative movement that offers opportunity and advancement to every Illinoisan.
“I believe in the American dream, and I believe every American wants to believe again. Republicans offer the best opportunity for success, advancement and acceptance. Sadly, since we lost The Gipper, we have done an abjectly poor job of communicating our message. Sometimes the messengers were also substandard.
“Unlike Kirk, I will not refer to African-Americans as thugs and goons. Christ himself teaches that there should be no outcasts, no ‘thugs’ in our world.

(CHICAGO)(July 23, 2009) Mark Kirk came out of the starting gate as a senate candidate by embarrassing the entire Illinois Republican party and by making a fool of himself.
Kirk released a bogus list of “endorsements.”
What could be more embarrassing to a candidate than releasing a list of “endorsers,” some of whom then deny making any endorsement?
Among the "embarrasses” was gubernatorial candidate Kirk Dillard, who promptly denied endorsing Mark Kirk for U. S. Senator.

Dillard, you will remember, had his own “endorsement malfunction” when he starred in TV commercials for Barack Obama. The last thing Dillard needed was to be fraudulently listed as a Kirk endorser. That would be a nice way for Dillard to gratuitously rile conservatives. Dillard promptly denied endorsing Kirkie Boy. [Who added Dillard’s name to the bogus list?]

by claiming there is “confusion” about Kirk’s fraudulent activity. Where’s the "confusion?" Illinois Review admits that they contacted the endorsers and some of them denied endorsing Kirk. No confusion there. Kirkie Boy lied. Bad boy. (Full disclosure: Frank Eaton has a “hard on” for me; she removes my postings to IR and denies I exist; thattaboy Fran).
But in a classic cover-up that shows Republicans how some “conservatives” can be pathetic weenies, Illinois Review will not release the names of Kirk’s “non-endorsers.” How can anyone pretend to conservative journalistic objectivity and then refuse to release the names of people whose names have been used and abused by Kirk?
John Kass has a word for Kirk and the Illinois Review: the Republican Party’s latest chumbolones.
Kirk had months to plan his campaign announcement. Months. He botched the event. Nice planning, Mark. What was he thinking by releasing a fraudulent list of endorsers? Or is he going to claim the Illinois Republican Party is the fraudster? Who gave the IRP the bogus list of endorsers?
Kirk is a man who has been in office for almost a decade, and who has spent his whole adult life as a coat-holder for Washington fixers, in other words a classic “career politician.” He should have known better than to lie at his campaign announcement. It’s like lying to your wife. [I won’t go there, yet.]
Of course Chicago media are so incompetent most of them will be surprised to learn they were played for fools by Kirk. Many will learn it from this column. The links are up there boys and girls. Read them for yourselves.
Rick Pearson, the creepy reporter of the bankrupt Chicago Tribune, and Lynn Sweet, the Norma Desmond-like impresario of the equally bankrupt Sun-Times, failed to tell their readers about Kirk’s bogus endorsers. Maybe they were afraid Kirkie Boy would freeze them out. Sweet and Pearson are professional flacks, not reporters, as their latest cover-up confirms. And they wonder why no one reads their newspapers any more.
A closing note.
We had decided to “bank” the Kirk divorce story because the Kirk “marriage” is too rich a scandal, and too risqué a fraud on Illinois Republicans (or too deep a mine shaft?) for just one column. Somewhere out there, Jack Ryan is smiling.
But we have not been able to get back to writing about Kirk’s faux marriage because he keeps creating beautiful new material such as “Endorsementgate,” and “IllinoisReviewgate.”
Please rest assured we will be writing about the Kirk “marriage” in the near future. We have several columns banked already, with one to be added about the announcement appearance of Kirk’s own Eva Peron, Kimberly Vertoli. Come to think about it, Eva Peron had more integrity than Kimberly Vertoli. But then everything about Mark Kirk is phony, even his “wife.”

"My real opponents—-the crooks in Washington who call themselves Republican 'leaders' and milk ordinary Republicans for donations to sustain their lavish lifestyles in Washington—-know Mark Kirk is not a Republican, not even a conservative Democrat.
"Washington insiders are trying to use Daley Machine stooge Andy McKenna, the unelected leader of the Illinois Republican Party, to 'endorse' Kirk the same way they fixed another crooked endorsement two years ago. They want to 'protect' Kirk from a primary election.

Senate candidate Andy Martin announced Friday that he was the "frontrunner" in the campaign to become the Republican nominee for President Barack Obama's former U. S. Senate seat. Martin said his concentrated campaign to force Congressman Mark Kirk out of the race, succeeded.
"Despite the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza's pumping for one of my primary opponents, I am delighted to claim 'frontrunner' status in the 2010 U. S. Senate Republican primary," Martin said in a statement from vacation. Martin is en route to Southampton, Long Island.
"My campaign is ready to go. We are ready to roll on August 4th; petitioning begins in just 25 days.
"I respect that Andy McKenna will be a formidable adversary in the primary. The question is whether my grass roots campaign can overcome McKenna's financial edge. My campaign has a big challenge, no doubt about it.
"Today I am extending this offer to Mr. McKenna: if he does not seek to rig or manipulate the primary in his role as soon-to-be former state chairman, he will have my support if he wins the nomination. If we see the same 'Combine' shenanigans we saw in 2008, I will oppose McKenna after the primary. The choice is McKenna's.
"I believe Mr. McKenna should step down as IRP Chairman as soon as he starts circulating nominating petitions.
"All I ask is a level playing field in the 2010 primary. Let the voters, not the bosses, decide. If McKenna has confidence in his qualifications, he will not use Democrat Machine hatchet men against me the way he did in 2003.
"I will take my experience and qualifications to the Illinois Republican Party's primary voters. Because of my status as Barack Obama's original critic and longest-standing opponent, the primary will become a focus of national attention.
"Earlier this week, McKenna went to the Washington power brokers to seek their support. Kirk made the same effort. I am only asking the people of Illinois for their backing. There will be no machers or power brokers in my campaign. Mr. McKenna and I will offer contrasting approaches, and contrasting styles. Voters are going to have a real choice," Martin said.
"The question is, which Republican can be the most effective in campaigning against Barack Obama's inevitable smear machine, and, if elected, which Republican can stop Obama's socialist schemes in their tracks?

Senate candidate Andy Martin told a Wheaton, Illinois news conference Saturday, July 4th that he has adopted a new rallying cry for the Republican Party in 2010: “God Bless the USA; we won’t let Obama take it away.©” Martin also told the news conference he is a “common sense conservative.”
“With attribution, our new slogan is available for use by Republicans everywhere, and will tell people what we stand for,” Martin said. “We love the USA; we won’t let Barack Obama take it away from us with his socialist schemes and groveling to foreign dictators. America is worth fighting for, and it is worth fighting Obama for. We will defeat him at the ballot box in 2010”
Martin “rocked” the Wheaton Independence day parade. He chanted “God Bless the USA” along the mile-and-a-half parade route to a rousing response from parade watchers. Waving his hat and carrying a 5’ by 3’ banner, Martin told DuPage residents that he will stand by the USA in Washington.
“Because the parade is nonpartisan, we could not use our full slogan today. But it will begin to appear on our materials and in our speeches,” Martin said. “‘God Bless The USA: We Won’t Let Obama Take It Away.’
“I am a ‘common sense’ conservative. I like the Goldilocks approach: not too hot, not too cold, just right.
“Candidates who throw ‘red meat’ to the right, by making illusory campaign promises, are irresponsible and undermine the Republican brand.
“Likewise, Republicans who surrender to the left are irresponsible. I am in the middle. I am willing to fight for common sense conservative principles.
“It was my privilege to share July 4th with the good people of Wheaton; they represent the best in American life,” Martin said after marching along the parade route. “I am honored and humbled that they extended such a warm welcome to me.”

ANDY DECLARES HIMSELF A “COMMON SENSE CONSERVATIVE”
(Wheaton, Illinois)(July 4, 2009) Internet Powerhouse and U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin told a Wheaton, Illinois news conference Saturday, July 4th that he has adopted a new rallying cry for the Republican Party in 2010: “God Bless the USA; we won’t let Obama take it away.©” Martin also told the news conference he is a “common sense conservative.”
“With attribution, our new slogan is available for use by Republicans everywhere, and will tell people what we stand for,” Martin said. “We love the USA; we won’t let Barack Obama take it away from us with his socialist schemes and groveling to foreign dictators. America is worth fighting for, and it is worth fighting Obama for. We will defeat him at the ballot box in 2010”
Martin “rocked” the Wheaton Independence day parade. He chanted “God Bless the USA” along the mile-and-a-half parade route to a rousing response from parade watchers. Waving his hat and carrying a 5’ by 3’ banner, Martin told DuPage residents that he will stand by the USA in Washington.
“Because the parade is nonpartisan, we could not use our full slogan today. But it will begin to appear on our materials and in our speeches,” Martin said. “‘God Bless The USA: We Won’t Let Obama Take It Away.’
“I am a ‘common sense’ conservative. I like the Goldilocks approach: not too hot, not too cold, just right.
“Candidates who throw ‘red meat’ to the right, by making illusory campaign promises, are irresponsible and undermine the Republican brand.
“Likewise, Republicans who surrender to the left are irresponsible. I am in the middle. I am willing to fight for common sense conservative principles.
“It was my privilege to share July 4th with the good people of Wheaton; they represent the best in American life,” Martin said after marching along the parade route. “I am honored and humbled that they extended such a warm welcome to me.”
