Andy Martin calls Mark Kirk a disgrace to the United States Navy

U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin says Mark Kirk’s “poll” on whether U. S. Navy seals should be prosecuted for abusing a terrorist is a disgrace. “Instead of condemning the prosecution, ‘Meek Mark’ asks people to ‘vote’ on what should happen to our brave men and women in uniform,” Martin charges. “You don’t ask for a vote on whether our heroes should be prosecuted. You condemn the charges and demand their immediate dismissal. That’s what a leader does. Kirk failed. But then Kirk is a total military fraud and imposter.”

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WEDNESDAY NEWS CONFERENCE IN CHICAGO

Andy Martin says Mark Kirk’s latest “poll” is “just plain slimy”

Kirk’s “poll” on whether U. S. Navy Seals should be prosecuted is an insult to the Navy, and a disgrace to the Republican Party

(CHICAGO)(November 13, 2009) Republican U. S. Senate candidate and insurgent “Internet Powerhouse” Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Wednesday, December 9th to express his utter disgust with Mark Kirk’s latest campaign “poll.” Martin says Mark Kirk is a disgrace to the U.S. Navy and dishonors the Navy uniform every time Kirk wears it as a political prop.

“During the course of a campaign,” Martin says, “candidates constantly appear before the same audiences. Very often candidates become friendly even though they are all competing to win. I helped one of my opponents when he was the victim of a racist attack by Patrick Hughes. Another candidate recently brought me a small present. Occasionally one of my opponents will call me for advice because of my reputation for integrity and extensive political experience.

“But Mark Kirk is friendless.

“Nevertheless, it is the nature of politics that you tend to give your opponents the benefit of the doubt until or unless they disgust you. Mark Kirk now disgusts me.

“Kirk is a despicable human being who abuses and misuses the U. S. Navy uniform. A vote for Mark Kirk is a vote to dishonor our men and women in uniform who are on duty keeping this great nation safe.

“Why am I angry? Here is the background.

“In 2004, terrorists in Falluja attacked four Americans, desecrated their bodies, burned the remains and hung them from a bridge. It was one of the most graphic moments in the Iraq war.

“We Americans would not let such an atrocity pass without a response. And our military pursued the killers. Eventually a team of U. S. Navy Seals caught the perpetrator, and turned him over to Iraqi authorities (who then retuned him to American custody).

“I am sure this evil man was not taken into custody without a struggle. At some point the murderer was probably whacked to subdue him. While I would be the first to condemn prisoner abuse as a general principle, a violent prisoner who resists has to be subdued. Period.

“The prisoner has now accused a single Navy Seal of hitting him. Ohmigod!

“The Navy did not think much of this incident. Senior officers afforded the Navy Seals an opportunity to accept what is called ‘non-judicial punishment,’ (Article 15, UCMJ). The Seals were obviously offended and said ‘no’ to any punishment, whereupon the Navy charged the men with a serious crime. In simple terms, because the men would not admit to a misdemeanor, they were charged with a felony. (Two Seals were charged with ‘covering-up’ the alleged act of violence.)

“This abuse of the Seals is a contempt of every American,” Martin will continue. “Capturing violent murderers is not a simple task; it is not an easy assignment. To charge men with a crime for subduing someone who committed an atrocity is a miscarriage of military justice.

“So what does Kirk do? He issues a poll asking people whether the men should be prosecuted. In other words, Kirk 'is not sure' what should be done. He voted for cap-and-trade, and then said it was a 'mistake’ when he saw the public outrage. Kirk’s entire political ‘career’ has been a series of charades of putting his finger in the air, and then trying to surf with public opinion. Kirk has the backbone of an amoeba.

“As an alleged Navy officer, and given the egregious abuse of brave Seals, Kirk should have taken a definite stand, as I am, condemning these senseless prosecutions. Instead Kirk put his finger in the air, again. Shades of cap-and-trade. Kirk wants us to ‘vote’ on whether our brave men should be punished.

"For the past several months I have had to try hard to avoid vomiting every time Kirk falsely claimed to be some sort of warrior or war hero. Kirk usually mentions his military status several times a day. Kirk is a complete imposter and military fraud. He has refused to authorize the release of his military records. Only morons like Don and Roma and other brain dead Chicago media people swallow Kirk’s bogus heroics.

“We will have more to say about Kirk’s fraudulent military career in the days ahead. Stay tuned,---for the truth about Kirk.

“In the meantime, if you can read Kirk's poll, reproduced below, and see Kirk trying to find out which way the wind is blowing before he takes a clear stand, and avoid retching at the very thought of Kirk in the Senate, you are a better person than I am.

“I hope Kirk doesn't run into ex-Seal Jesse Ventura. Jesse would give Kirk some 'non-judicial punishment' for Kirk's disgraceful attitude towards the Navy uniform that Kirk constantly uses as a political prop.

“Let me be clear and unequivocal: Mark Kirk is a disgrace to the U.S. Navy, to the United States of America and to the Republican Party. Kirk should have stood up and unhesitatingly condemned these prosecutions. Instead, he opted to ‘take a poll.’

“Read Kirk’s ‘poll’ and weep that a creep like Kirk was given $2 million dirty Beltway dollars to fool gullible Illinois Republicans into voting for him,” Martin will state. “Mark Kirk’s ambivalent behavior towards these U. S. Navy Seals is just plain slimy.”

MARK KIRK’S “POLL:”

Should Navy SEALs Be Prosecuted for Capturing a Terrorist?

Dear Friend:

In March 2004, four American military contractors in Fallujah were ambushed – burned, mutilated and hung on a bridge over the Euphrates River. More than five years later, on September 3, 2009, Navy SEALs captured the alleged mastermind of the Fallujah attack: Ahmed Hashim Abed.

Abed now claims he was hit in the stomach during his capture. On Monday, Special Warfare Operators 2nd Class Matthew McCabe and Jonathan Keefe, and Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Julio Huertas – three Navy SEALs who participated in Abed’s capture – were arraigned for court-martial.

Instead of being commended for capturing a most-wanted terrorist responsible for the brutal murder of American citizens, these Navy SEALs must defend their actions in a military courtroom.

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK
Do you think three Navy SEALs who helped capture a most-wanted terrorist deserve a military court-martial?

Yes
No
Don't Know

Mr. Martin,

While you included the text of the "poll" that was sent, you didn't include the text that appeared after the vote was cast, in which Kirk clearly states his position.

With all due respect, Mr. Martin, that's not very honest.
