Congressman Mark Kirk issues a fraudulent “poll”

Kirk, in an act of political desperation, takes a misleading “poll” and leaves off the name of his principal opponent, Downstate Illinois Republican Leader Andy Martin. Martin, in turn, ridicules Kirk’s fraudulent campaigning and calls Kirk a “disgrace to the Republican Party.” “I guess Kirk is really afraid of me. He is pretending I don’t exist. Little boys do that,” Martin says.

Martin is the only U. S. Senate candidate who has run statewide before; Martin carried 45 counties in 2008. Is that why Kirk was afraid to list Martin’s name in Kirk’s phony poll?

(CHICAGO)(October 13, 2009) Republican U. S. Senate candidate and Downstate Illinois Republican Leader Andy Martin Tuesday ridiculed a bogus poll released by his principal opponent, ultra-liberal Congressman Mark Kirk.

“Kirk released a ‘poll,’” Martin said, “and eliminated the name of his only opponent who has ever run statewide. Last year, 2008, I ran in the U. S. Senate primary and carried or nearly carried (100 votes or less) forty five (45, count ‘em) counties:

“Yet my name is nowhere to be found in Kirk’s fraudulent poll.

“How could you conduct/release a poll and not mention the name of your only opponent who has run statewide before?

”Mark Kirk has contempt for Downstate Illinois Republicans and particularly Downstate Republican primary voters. Kirk just tried to erase a quarter of a million votes cast for me. Kirk tried to demonstrate his ‘strength’ by using names of candidates I have never heard if. That’s not a sign of ‘strength’ on your part, Kirkster, that’s a sign of your weakness.

“Kirk thinks he can bamboozle Downstate Republicans with his phony robo-calls and his misleading advertising paid for by Washington Beltway lobbyists. Downstaters aren’t so gullible they will be fooled by Kirk’s fraudulent campaign tactics.

“Downstaters have an opportunity to take back Illinois in 2010; I am leading a Downstate Revival of the Republican Party. I am working hard to see we field a full slate of state and federal candidates for office. That’s real leadership. What leadership has Kirk shown? None whatsoever.

“Why is it that every bogus political operation, from the corrupt IllinoisReview.com, to equally corrupt Congressman Mark Kirk, tries to pretend I don’t exist? Is it because the ‘Caprio conservatives’ are backing a crook as their candidate, and Mark Kirk is afraid of my shadow? Everyone sure goes out of their way to pretend I am not the 800-pound gorilla in the primary.

“How could ‘The Hill’ newspaper in Washington even dignify Kirk’s pre-Halloween joke by giving prominence to Kirk’s phony poll?

“In the former Soviet Union, they only erased the names of people that were threats to the regime. I represent a new kind of Downstate Republican leader: someone who will look after Downstate interests, but who has a statewide perspective and worldwide experience. No wonder Kirk and the rest of the ‘candidates’ in his ‘poll’ are afraid of me. They can’t match either my commitment or my qualifications.

“The bottom line: Mark Kirk is running scared. And I’m the one he’s afraid of,” Martin said. “Kirk’s bogus poll speaks for itself. Mark Kirk is a disgrace to the Republican Party.”
