ANNOUNCEMENT OF WEDNESDAY NEWS CONFERENCE IN CHICAGO

Andy Martin says his advertising team is working “overnight” to produce a new “national” advertising commercial on Wednesday

Martin says that his anti-Obama advertising will start airing statewide on January 22nd

Martin’s advertising agency has a reputation for producing hard-hitting commercials based on original research

Martin’s statewide campaign is “surging” as rival candidates fall by the wayside

(CHICAGO)(January 20, 2010) “Illinois Tough” Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Wednesday, January 20th seeking to “nationalize” the Illinois U. S. Senate primary and capitalize on the “Massachusetts Message.”

“We are working all night to produce new advertising on Wednesday that will carry forward Scott Brown’s ‘Massachusetts Message,’” Martin says. “We are tailoring the anti-Obama advertising to a more conservative Illinois Republican primary electorate.

“Our studies of the WLS-TV Channel 7 debate found that Republican voters appreciated my ‘tough’ message. They saw a fighter on TV, not a patsy for liberal media hatchet-men. Our new campaign slogan: ‘Illinois Tough.’

“Without getting into all of our psychographic analysis, we have seen a palpable change on the campaign trail: the more the leftist media attack me, the warmer the Republican Party response. The more the Chicago Republican Party establishment attacks me and supports my opponent, the stronger I become.

“Tuesday evening we received an extraordinarily warm welcome from Winnebago County Republicans. Downstate Republicans know I do my best to attend every downstate function I can. I am the ‘downstate’ Republican candidate for United States Senator.

“The dynamics of the U. S. Senate primary have shifted radically since the WLS-TV debate. One candidate who boycotted the debate lost ground. One candidate who appeared was discredited. As we enter the final days of the campaign, all of my rivals are losing ground. We are gaining.

“In Washington I will partner with Senator Scott Brown to stop the Obama agenda. Republicans want progress. Republicans want reform. I am a reformer and a corruption fighter. But we oppose Barack Obama’s radical agenda: cap and trade taxes, higher income taxes, abortion, gun control, Internet restrictions and a myriad of other extreme proposals Obama is trying to force on the American people. ‘National security’ has become an oxymoron under Obama.

“Illinois Republicans are realizing I have been Barack Obama’s most formidable opponent since my appearance on Sean Hannity’s show in 2008 (got to www.AndyforUSSenator.com to see the 2008 video). They sense that Obama is scared of me. They can see I am not afraid of Obama. My ‘secret weapon’ is the biased liberal media that attack me and distort my campaign. Republicans love that I fight back.

“Wednesday we are producing a new ‘national’ advertising campaign. Friday we start airing the campaign across the State of Illinois. February 2nd I will stage an upset victory, win the U. S. Senate nomination and turn politics in this country upside-down. I made this promise on December 28th and step-by-step we are implementing the plan.

“We have an organized and disciplined campaign strategy to win the Republican Party nomination and stun the corrupt Republican Party establishment in Illinois,” Martin says. “My primary campaign will now morph into a ‘national’ campaign to join Senator-elect Scott Brown in defeating the Obama agenda.

“Because we have our own in-house advertising agency, we can react literally overnight. Wednesday we produce; Friday we air.”

This could be the best thing you said when you spoke of a candidate at the debate who was discredited. YES, we all know it was you Andy who was the one discredited.

No one in Illinois wants a crackpot like you running around in Washington representing the great state of Illinois.

"Gun Owners of America endorse Hughes for U.S. Senate"

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Patrick Hughes for U.S. Senate in the February 2nd Illinois Republican primary.

Patrick Hughes' commitment to the right to keep and bear arms is unwavering.

Mr. Hughes understands that gun prohibitions turn law-abiding citizens into easier targets for violent criminals. Unlike his primary opponent, Patrick Hughes does not support laws that treat people who simply want to own a gun to protect their families like second class citizens.

The contrast between Patrick Hughes and his opponent could not be clearer, as he is running against the most anti-gun Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mark Kirk has been in Congress since 2001, and the record he has complied voting against your gun rights could fill volumes. In his time in the House, Kirk has voted:

* To allow the FBI to keep the names of lawful gun purchasers for months, effectively creating a registration list of gun owners;

* Against arming commercial airline pilots in defense of terrorism;

* For so-called campaign finance reform, which limits the ability of groups like GOA to communicate with the voting public about congressional legislation;

* Against repealing the D.C. gun ban;

* Against a bill to prevent the government from confiscating firearms after a natural disaster, as happened when Katrina struck New Orleans; and,

* Against repealing the gun ban on National Park Service property.

Mark Kirk has not only voted consistently against your Second Amendment rights -- he is an anti-gun leader as well. In 2004, Kirk urged then-Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert to extend the Clinton ban on semi-automatic firearms. After its expiration, Kirk introduced his own bill to reinstate the gun ban.

In the current session of Congress, Kirk has cosponsored a bill that will regulate gun shows out of existence and a bill to deny Second Amendment rights to the hundreds of thousands of people on the government's "watch" list.

Were it left up to Mark Kirk, the Second Amendment would be completely abolished.

Thankfully, Prairie State gun owners and sportsmen have a choice on Tuesday, February 2nd, and that choice is Patrick Hughes.

On behalf of Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund, I urge you stand with Patrick Hughes for Senate.

"ILGOP Chair says Republicans unified behind Mark Kirk"

IL GOP State Party Chairman Pat Brady told reporters today on a phone conference call that the Illinois Republican Party is fairly unified around Mark Kirk's U.S. Senate bid. When asked about the lack of enthusiasm factions of the Republican Party have for the more liberal-leaning Kirk, and Brady said that overall the party is unified and preparing for an election year Republican leaders hope will emulate New Jersey, Viriginia and Massachusetts' successes.

"The split ... I don't really accept the premise [that the ILGOP is divided]," Brady said. "The 'Dump Kirk' movement is a fringe movement. There's not one candidate that's pulled above 5 percent except Mark Kirk. So if there's a split, it's sure not a strong of people saying they're not going to come out and vote. Mark Kirk has a substantial lead, and none of these guys are pulling more than five percent. So, I agree, it's bad if we're not unified, but this year, what we're seeing is a very unified Republican Party.

Brady continued, "I think the Democrats have helped us because they've been so incompetent that most Republicans are just angry at the state of the state and they're going to fight to get rid of the Democrats."

Massachusetts Scott Brown supporters included the Republican Party's 12 percent of the voters, but his candidacy also appealed to the highly non-partisan independent voter. This year those independents agree with the conservative-valued Tea Party movement, along with Democrats unhappy with the direction their party has taken in the Obama administration's first year.
