Martin establishes a two-man race for the Illinois Republican U. S. Senate nomination. Martin’s commercials end up on liberal blogs almost as soon as they are released to radio stations. Martin’s campaign is based on a disciplined game plan to defeat Kirk.

Andy Martin’s “Bunker Busters” enter the national conversation as left-wing media cadge Martin’s ads almost as quickly as they are broadcast across Illinois
As Kirk fades from sight, the Kirk campaign doubles media spending in a desperate effort to stave off Andy Martin’s “surge”
Will Mark Kirk appear at the WLS-TV Channel 7 debate? Doubts about Kirk’s “appearance” increase
Andy Martin revs up his campaign against Wall Street greed, starts post-primary planning for a vicious campaign against Democratic party hypocrisy and greed
(NEW YORK)(January 7, 2010) Within hours of Andy Martin launching a new media attack on his opponent Mark Kirk Wednesday, January 6th, national media had obtained a copy of the ad and were broadcasting Martin’s attacks to a national audience.
“I don’t know how the Huffington Post got the ad. But within a few hours, they had what we had just put up on a statewide basis,” Martin says. “Someone leaked. It was an impressive job of filching. Very clearly, national media coverage is beginning to drive the agenda in the Republican primary for U. S. Senator. National media from the New York Times to the Huffington Post want a Mark Kirk-Andy Martin smackdown. And they are going to get one.
“Liberals were comfortable thinking pro-Obama Mark Kirk would breeze to an easy win for the Republican senate nomination, and Democrats would then finish off Kirk over the summer with typical left-wing dirty politics, see:

chicago-democrats-are-planning-to-do-
to-out-republicans-mark-kirk-and-aaron-schock/
“By hitting Kirk first, my campaign has upended the liberal script and revitalized the Republican primary.
“What is even more upsetting to the liberal media elite is that traditional ‘movement conservatives’ are marooned on the sidelines as I build a Glenn Beck-style citizens' rebellion against the arrogant and corrupt Illinois Republican Party. In order to win the senate nomination I have had to declare war on a party which has been under day-to-day supervision of homosexuals since the Topinka years, and under the effective manipulation of Kirk adviser and Dennis Hastert homosexual majordomo John McGovern.
“My ‘movement’ is made up of disaffected Republicans that have abandoned the Republican Party as it increasingly came under the manipulation of the corrupt bipartisan ‘Combine’ in Illinois. Republicans are in rebellion, and I am their field general.
“My ‘Bunker Busters’ have entered the national conversation as liberals await a new explosion in the Kirk camp. The Huffington Post predicts the next Bunker Buster will land on Kirk next week, just before the Channel 7 WLS-TV debate.
“The Illinois Republican senate primary has been narrowed to a two-man race:

news/politics&id=7204762
“Making matters even more upsetting for the liberal media elite, they are now realizing that while Kirk would be an easy ‘mark’ to defeat, I will not be so easy to bring down if I win the nomination. I am still struggling to win the primary. But if I win the nomination, I will be positioned to lead a revitalized conservative movement to victory in Illinois next November. Where would Kirk draw votes if he won? From liberals? (See Bunker Buster #4 for the answer.)
“There is no doubt my commercials have jarred listeners. They can be unsettling. They are certainly challenging. But they are intended to alert voters to the chance for a major upset in American politics. I learned my ‘Ted Bates’ lessons well at the University of Illinois College of Business. We are using a classic Ted Bates approach to bringing down Kirk.
“What’s more, our approach is working. My forty years experience in radio and television give me an edge in managing a media strategy that is designed to accomplish the impossible, and very possibly will succeed in toppling the overwhelming favorite with my insurgent campaign.
“Unlike several of my nominal opponents, who each claimed to have received a ‘vision’ to run without any experience to do, my team began crafting a detailed marketing strategy to defeat Kirk over a year ago. And we have stayed on target, on budget and on time. Our current plan is to win the election on the last weekend.
“I suspect national media are already reserving their hotel rooms for the primary. The finale is going to be a doozy.
“Kirksters are beginning to panic. Kirk is now doubling his advertising budget. But he still hasn’t found a way to defend against or defeat my Bunker Busters. He can spend millions but obtain little benefit as long as Bunker Busters continue to drop on him.
“Republican primary voters do not want Mark Kirk as their candidate. They were looking for reasons to vote against him. Now they have reasons. They want a proven fighter to take on the Democrats. I may have a few rough edges, and I may have made a few inopportune remarks in over forty years of public life, but I am a tried and tested fighter for conservative causes.
“Forty-two years ago an FBI report called me ‘one of the leading spokesmen for conservatives at the University of Illinois and an outspoken opponent of the “New Left.”’ The FBI knew I was a conservative fighter forty-two years ago. What candidate in either party has that record of solid commitment to serving the people of Illinois and fighting as their champion in Washington? Mark Kirkster? {A copy of the 1968 FBI report is available through a FOIA waiver on request.]
The growing question in Illinois media and political circles: where is Kirk? He has not been heard from in over ten (10) days. That’s strange behavior for a U.S. Senate candidate on the eve of an election. But then Mark Kirk is a strange guy. I assume he’s going to show at Channel 7 for the debate next week; but don’t ask me to bet on a Kirk appearance. He may become a no-show. The odds are moving against it,” Martin says.
“Kirk voted against the surge in Iraq. Now he is trying to work a surge of his own to stave off my Republican supporters who will swamp his candidacy on February 2nd. This time the surge is against Kirk.
“I’ll make Kirk this offer: when his slimy supporters, local media sycophants and flacks in the Obama administration stop smearing me with lies, I’ll stop telling the truth about Kirk. Then maybe we can start debating the issues of concern to Illinois voters, such as why Barack Obama and the Democrats are bankrupting Main Street America while Goldman Sachs & Co. hands out $30 billion in employee bonuses to money-grubbing Wall Street speculators.
“You got a problem with that?” Martin says as he returns to the drawing board and assembly line for his next anti-Kirk Bunker Buster (#3). ”I do. Ordinary Americans do. The Beltway ‘elite’ in both parties do not. Goldman Sachs owns Congress. But they don’t own me.”
