(CHICAGO)(August 22, 2009) Internet Powerhouse and U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a news conference today to demand that Mark Kirk open his “town hall meeting” August 24th to the public and stop playing politics with health care.

“Americans are concerned, legitimately concerned, with the health care establishment,” Martin charges. “The University of Chicago Hospital System was paying Michelle Obama a third of a million dollars a year for ‘community outreach.’ Did Mark Kirk ever protest? Did he attack the giveaway of health dollars to Michelle Obama? Kirk said and did nothing? Kirk's ten years in Congress: wasted.

“Kirk could have attacked Obama for focusing his prior ‘health care’ initiative on the health of Michelle’s bank account. A third of a million dollars for Michelle’s do-nothing job was not a bad payoff. He is afraid to do so. Kirk is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

“Kirk was afraid to stand up to Michelle Obama and fight to end her third of a million-dollar bonanza. Michele Obama’s fat paycheck was coming out of the paychecks and pocketbooks of poor people in her own South Side neighborhood. Wealthy, educated yuppies such as the Obamas were getting rich milking the system for big salaries, while ordinary citizens were denied adequate care.

“But despite the fact that Republicans realize some change is essential, they are afraid to take on Obama. I will stand up to Obama and tell him he will not be allowed to impose socialized medicine on the American people. I was the first to predict Obama’s socialist revolution, right on Fox News:

“When has Mark Kirk ever stood up to Obama? On the contrary, Kirk is Obama’s favorite Republican. Kirk backed Obama on cap-and-trade. Rahm Emanuel has promised Kirk a job in the Obama administration when Kirk loses his senate bid. Who believes Kirk will stand up to Obama and fight socialized medicine? Certainly no Republican thinks Kirk has the ‘right stuff.’

“People already trust me to stand up to Obama. I have a proven record of tackling Obama’s lies and distortions. I will not be Obama’s ‘favorite Republican’ in the U. S. Senate.

“Kirk’s ‘town hall’ meeting was announced at the last minute, surreptitiously, to a favored few. Kirk has not invited the public in to hear his ‘pap’ talk. Why not? He’s a candidate for statewide office.

“Kirk wants it both ways. He wants to pretend that he is for ‘reform,’ but he is afraid to stand up and stare down Barack Obama. Kirk is neither a fighter nor a leader,” Martin says. “Let him open his doors on Monday, August 22nd, and let him see what people think of his timid proposals for reform.”
