(CHICAGO)(August 8, 2009) Internet Powerhouse Andy Martin, the crusading columnist and investigator who five years ago began asking tough questions about Barack Obama’s family background and early career in Chicago, and who today is a corruption-fighting U. S. Senate candidate from Illinois [www.AndyforUSSenator.com], will hold a Chicago news conference Saturday to announce he has asked Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn to remove unrepentant terrorist William Ayers from the University of Illinois faculty.
“I received two degrees from the University of Illinois, and I earned them. The Chicago Tribune’s ‘Clout Goes to College” series, which should win a Pulitzer Prize, and which resulted in the appointment of a special committee to investigate ‘clout’ in the student admissions process at the U. of I., did not go far enough. Crooked politicians raped my alma mater. The ‘reforms’ should be extended to reach the removal of domestic terrorist William Ayers from the U. of I. faculty.
“The Governor’s committee fully investigated the crookedness at the U of I that undermined the integrity of the academic admissions process.
“As a result, we are reminded once more that corruption permeates every pore of this state. Even our universities are not immune.
“But, sadly, the ‘clout committee’ was itself the victim of clout. The governor did not ask the committee to investigate the clout that led to the hiring of domestic terrorist William Ayers as a taxpayer-supported faculty member.
“I grew up on a university campus, my mother was an AAUP representative, and I became an adjunct professor at the City University of New York. So I am acutely sensitive to issues of academic freedom.
“But the same kind of influence peddling that was used to get the students of politically influential families into the U of I was also used to get Ayers a job at the University’s Chicago campus.
“Ayers became the focus of renewed public prominence last year as the man, perhaps ‘the’ man, who helped create and ‘craft’ Barack Obama’s political career.
“The Ayers family’s clout in Chicago had tentacles into the largest newspaper, not surprisingly the Chicago Tribune, and the city’s largest law firm among a long list of family powerpoints.
“Who knew? What did U of I leaders know about Bill Ayers when he was hired? Who was ‘clouted’ by Thomas Ayers to get his son a university position? Why has the Tribune ignored this aspect of ‘Clout goes to college, to teach?’
“Removing Ayers will not be an easy task. He has burrowed deeply into the taxpayers’ pockets. But as a symbolic gesture, it is essential that Illinois ‘take back’ their preeminent state university from the clutches of a domestic terrorist who has never apologized for his war against ‘Amerika.’
“I remember Ayers’ ‘Days of rage’ in downtown Chicago, when he attacked buildings and persons with equal hatred.
"I might feel differently if Ayers had repented. But he is as defiant and oppositional as ever. He idolizes Hugh Chavez and Fidel Castro. He wants to make local schools into socialist indoctrination centers. While Ayers has not yet popped up in the White House—I suspect he will at some point—he is clearly the Godfather of the Obama Administration’s totalitarian socialist revolution.
“It is time for ‘declouting’ to come to Bill Ayers. He should find work at a private university, not at a taxpayer assisted institution,” Martin will state. “Bernadine Dohrn, Ayers’ wife, works at privately managed Northwestern University; I see no problem or public policy issues with that. But the Governor should initiate action to see that Ayers is removed; the Governor should strike now, while the issue of corrupt practices at the University of Illinois is a major reform matter.”
