Martin says Kirk is unfit to be a statewide senate candidate. “Kirk on the statewide ticket locks the doors on 20% of the state’s homes,” Martin says. “Racism has no place in the Republican Party. Why was Kirk’s prior misconduct not condemned by party leaders? I am proud of my lifetime record of support for civil rights. Kirk should be ashamed of his disgraceful behavior. He owes every Illinoisan and every Republican voter a retraction and apology.”

Kirk referred to African-Americans as “thugs” and “goons.”
“By using racist attacks,” Martin says, “Kirk has locked the Republican Party out of 20% of the state’s homes and narrowed the potential electoral base for every Republican candidate.”

(CHICAGO) The fund raiser featuring Mark Kirk on Tuesday August 4th was a desultory failure. Chicago Police provided six (6) officers and two patrol cards to protect Andy Martin from any retaliatory attacks because he was picketing the Peninsula Hotel where the $500 a person fundraiser was being held. The Peninsula Hotel security staff also deployed over a dozen security officers.
“It was like an armed camp out there,” Martin says. “But we got the message across. We are in this race to stay. Our spies inside the hotel said most of the attendees at the event were coming with free tickets, so it is likely the cocktail party will not be a moneymaker. Kirk is losing his fundraising touch. Tom Cross and Mark Kirk apparently gave away tickets to avoid an embarrassing appearance.
“We were there, with police protection, and we will continue to be there. Republican big-wigs may try to back Mark, but the average Republican voter despises Kirkie.
“And then there is State Senator Kirk (‘My real name is John Kerry’) Dillard, who attended the cocktail party. Dillard was listed as “for” Mark Kirk before Dillard said he was not supporting Mark Kirk. Which is it Dillard? Fish or foul? Are you for Mark Kirk, or neutral? You can’t be both. Dillard wants to be governor when he can’t even decide whether to make a public statement one way or the other disclosing if he is backing Mark Kirk or not?
